One Last Lap Around the Diamond ⚾️
This weekend, the 12U South Fort Myers All Stars stepped onto the field where it all started. One last South Fort Myers Youth Baseball Opening Day as a team. One last walk across the dirt we’ve played on for years, some since T-ball. It meant more this time, as we walked on as a World Series Elite Eight team.
Thank you to Past-President Howard Gold for his leadership, love, and belief in us. Early on, he told us: “If you can get through Okeeheelee, you’re the real deal.” And We did!- not once, but twice to win the State Championship! We played this run for him in his final season after 24 years with South.
To President and “First Lady” Lauren and the board: thank you for honoring us as the most accomplished team in South history (so far 😉). We’re rooting for you in this new era!
Huge shoutout to the 9U and 11U All Stars: we’re proud of your accomplishments last season, and can’t wait to cheer you on this year! To the 10U Boyz: your lemonade stand donation toward our World Series trip meant everything. That kind of selflessness is what South brotherhood is all about. It was an honor to gift you boys with official Branson, Missouri Cal Ripken Baseball World Series shirts as our way of thanking you.
From Sarasota Classic Champions to District Champs, State Champs, Regional Finalists, and World Series Elite Eight in the USA, this ride has been unforgettable. Many of these boys now represent South in their middle school baseball teams at Canterbury and Evangelical Christian School, and top-tier travel teams like Ghost and Turn2. No matter where they go, they’ll always be South at heart.
To the younger players: Keep going. Keep grinding. Don’t quit.
To our coaches and families: Because you believed in us, we believed in ourselves.
To the community: Thank you for riding with us.
This isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning. South Boyz forever! 🌟
