The biggest mistake I made as a leader? Waiting too long. ⏳
I knew someone wasn't right for the role. The numbers, the team, the exit interviews, they all said it. But I told myself I was being patient. I was actually just avoiding the hard conversation.
8 months later, two of my best people had already left. They didn't quit him, they quit the fact that I let it go on.
The cost of waiting on a wrong-fit leader is never paid by the leader. It's paid by everyone around them.
The leaders I admire most aren't the ones who avoid hard conversations — they're the ones who have them now, not later. 💯
What's a leadership lesson that cost you more than you'd like to admit?
