Fort Dodge Rugby Club The Fort Dodge Rugby Club is a self-funded club sport, established in 2019 with a boys team (Stags) and have since added a girls team (Gazelles) in 2022.

We welcome all high schoolers in the Fort Dodge, IA and surrounding areas!

Week 1: โœ”๏ธ It may have been wet and rainy, but you all still showed up! Thank you for a wonderful night of rugby in Fort Dodge and for helping us kick off our season!

Your Gazelles faced Urbandale (DSM Metro) for our first match, fielding the opening kick and using some hard running to punch in our first score of the season early! Urbandale had some strong pushes of their own, but our defense was able to bring them down and keep them off the board. We took a 14-0 lead into halftime before a โ€œlightning delayโ€ forced a pause. Coming back out, the wet conditions made for some handling issues and a missed try, but your Gazelles continued to battle through it allโ€”winning our first match of the season!! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

We capped off the night against WSRโ€”back-to-back state champsโ€”knowing it would be one of the toughest matchups of our season. Your Gazelles had a few good pushes throughout the match, punching one in during the second half. This match was a battle from start to finish, and our girls showed plenty of fight against a tough WSR squad. There were some big hits, a little blood, and a whole lot of fight out there!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

Starting SZN5 out 1-1 isnโ€™t a bad place to be, putting us right in the middle of the pack. With so many new faces on our roster this season, a lot of our players got their first taste of real rugby this week! Thereโ€™s plenty to learn, plenty to build on, and plenty of season left!! Itโ€™s time to put what weโ€™ve learned to work as we get ready for our first road trip next week!
