There have been *so many* people who've learned to ride since I last posted. And there have been many who have taken the online courses outlining ways to ride comfortably in traffic.

We each have the opportunity to pass along what we know to others. We each have the opportunity to learn from others.

Interaction, sharing, and open communication can enrich our lives in so many ways.

Today, Annabelle kept saying how much she was enjoying her lesson. "You're a good teacher," she said. She said often that "this is fun!"

I say this not to puff myself up, but to remind every one of you that you have something to offer.

No matter what we might think of our life, there is something we can do to buoy up someone else.

When we lift up another person, there is hope.

Annabelle's solo ride.

Now the family can ride together.

It takes a great deal of attention, empathy, and effort, but it pays off.

What can be accomplished in three hours can change a person's life.

This is my favorite part of what I do, and it thrills me every single time.

Here is Oliver on one of his first solo rides.

Here's a recent review for the 'Traffic Smarts for Cyclists' course.

Ten years from when it was first developed, it has undergone massive transformations. Well over 15,000 hours of effort has gone into it, and it has never gone below 5 stars from the beginning.

(This is the USA version--the Canadian offering has the same content, yet provides information on Canadian laws as well as different spellings and km vs. miles, etc.)

"Although I have years of experience riding in traffic, I still learned a lot from this course. It provides a comprehensive approach that pulls together legal requirements, best practices for safe riding, and the benefits of communication and courtesy. Additionally, it [provides] lots of helpful tips for specific situations, such as narrow lanes and complex intersections.

And this is the older sister of Murphy (below), who learned to ride shortly before he did. At the end of the morning, they were both riding together.

The family had travelled from Regina to their campsite at a local lake north of Saskatoon, and then back to have the lessons for the day. Now the whole family can ride together to various places at the lake, and they've made plans to ride together to the grocery store and other venues.

What you don't see is me walking alongside the new riders for a mile or so (or more) with my hand lightly resting on the handlebar stem, and patiently guiding them through every step.

After a day of this I am exhausted (I still was when I was twenty years younger), yet I absolutely love these sessions.

I don't believe I've done anything more rewarding than this in my life, and there have been several other deeply fulfilling careers.

Obozegie learning to ride a bike.

This was on his bucket list, and he made it happen!

Murphy learning the ropes--this is about a half-hour in.

Note that he's learning to ride on a bike with coaster brakes, which takes a lot more attention than using one with handbrakes--yet in the next video, he does it!
