Every Forward Step Endurance

Every Forward Step Endurance Running coach Michelle Foster specializes in trail and ultrarunning and is dedicated to guiding athletes in their pursuit of becoming stronger happier runners.

https://linktr.ee/mfostercoach Michelle grew up the daughter of a small town track coach running the windy bluffs of western Nebraska. Whether it was boxes in the basement, hurdles in middle school, or playing rugby while getting her BS in Biology at the University of Wyoming, Michelle always preferred running with at least a few obstacles in the way. Trail running was a great fit. After moving to

Colorado and taking advantage of all the mountains in her backyard, Michelle has competed in many trail races including the Crazy Legs 10k, Antelope Dash 8 miler and the Black Squirrel Half Marathon. After moving up in distance to the Blue Sky Trail Marathon she pushed for a intimidating new challenge and completed the Gnar Slam in 2019 and 2020, running her first ultra distance races by completing the Quad Rock 50 miler and the Never Summer 100k in the process. She has also completed the 2020 Never Summer 100k, the 2020 August fires edition of the Quad Rock 50 miler and the Bear 100. Michelle is a UESCA certified running coach, a member of the Gnar Running Team and an Expert Ultrarunning Coach for Carmichael Training Systems. She is an advocate for the increased participation of women in trail running and organizes a weekly trail women’s speed training group. Michelle is dedicated to helping runners of all abilities reach their personal performance goals.

Everyone gets real giggly when you film while running backwards. 21 miles on the Red Feather 50 mile course. Five more weeks until the Red Feather Trail Jamboree 50 mile, 50k and Half. Me and Val along with at least 2 other women are going for the full 3 day “Jam Slam.” I can’t wait for all of my jars of finish line custom made jamboree jam.

While it’s fair to say my shins have received an impressive amount of beatings through rugby, biking, trail running and childhood bullying, this new tattoo has gone through an awful lot in its short life. About a month ago I carved out a strip falling on a pointy rock and today I whacked the most damaged spot with a refrigerator plug and have a nice little blood blister. I don’t know what black magic I conjured, but if it keeps the rest of me healthy and whole, I guess I’ll take it.

It was an amazing Never Summer 60k put on by Gnar Runners this Friday. There were so many Trail sisters Fort Collins running and so many volunteering they were practically the race hosts. The welcome greetings were so enthusiastic that people on course were asking me if I was some sort of local celebrity. I got myself to the first day finish line, but puked for the 2nd time running ever with 4 miles left and finished feeling pretty depleted. Saturday I lined up for the 100k, made it 5 miles uphill and found myself dead last. It was pretty clear 65 miles weren’t going to happen so I ended up with a 10 miles weren’t out and back to the start where I had myself a little cry. Instead I spent Saturday lurking about at the finish and doing some dog watching. No Dirty Double for me, but Red Feather 3 day challenge here I come. I’m out for my redemption now.

I do t love the fires, but I do love the views.
