The psychology of change, like everything else, is done in steps. If you’re ready to make some changes, start small. Set some goals and add to them. When I trained clients, my first experience of goal setting was to add something instead of take something away. For example, instead of reducing calories, I started with increasing daily water intake or eating within 30 minutes of waking up.

Goals bring our drive into focus.

Here are some tips about setting some goals.

Setting goals gives your life direction, and boosts your motivation and self-confidence. Learn how to set SMART goals and achieve your dreams.

I am a firm believer at starting small and building; no matter what aspect of life, I feel this applies to the majority of situations.
So Brett and I sarted running again about 3 weeks ago and have been trying to stay consistent. We have ran at least 3 times a week. Today is the end of our week and I wanted to compare three weeks ago with today… although small successes, I am excited about the results. After taking 3.5 years off, gaining about 50 lbs, & lovely asthma, I had to begin by walking from one light pole then run at the next, and repeat. I could only run at the pace Brett could walk, but today I ran a mile before stopping, walked 1/4 of a mile then ran another .5 miles. I am still slow, 12.32 minute mile, but I was also ready for more!

So, now to the battle rope!!

I have been out of it for a few years and am getting back into the swing of things with a level head, a minimal amount of time to dedicate, and renewed energy.
I work long days and have 16-23 hours of homework and class, and a family. This is what I do for myself. The smile and the sweat say it all.

When I first realized I was overweight, it was 9 months after the birth of my youngest daughter and I was ending my 20s, I read a book that gave me a great foundation that was further engrained in me when gaining my PT certification. The book was “The Spark”, the valuable piece of information was, START SMALL!
I started 10 minutes a day twice a day and from there I became more physically and mentally fit than I had ever been. I not only discovered my strengths, I found a passion.

Start small, add 10 minutes of activity a day, add more water, and add more sleep. Feel yourself get stronger and more energetic!

The best CURE for 90% of ailments is not a medication, it is the FOOD you put in your mouth, the ACTIVITY you do, the thoughts YOU ALLOW to occupy your mind, and the COMMITMENT to which you have to these things.

There are things like diabetes, cancer, and similar diseases that can only be helped by action, but 90% of the rest them are controlled by these factors. The cost? Take in minimal processed sugar and simple carbs, keep hydrated, be physically active daily, eat good fats, don’t allow pity to permit negative self talk.
I can hear the, “you have no idea what I’ve been through. You’re full of yourself”.
My response is, everyone will have to allow the negative thoughts, letting yourself go, and yes, the pity parties. But do not stay there. When you are tired of taking pills, tired of feeling like s**t, tired of being controlled by your emotions, you will change.

I come from no self esteem, been beaten, I was crushed from losing my 22 year old son, destroyed when the love of my life took his own, and still have issues I battle. I know how to feel lost, angry, defeated, disconnected, untrusting, depressed, and hopeless. It is easy to feel those things.

I am tired of feeling those things. I am tired of being in my head, having no energy, wanting to give up on myself, and hating life. I want to be happy, not the feel good because life went my way, but because I appreciate life and because I have worked hard to feel joy.

The past 3 years have been the hardest, I will never be what I was 9 years ago. I am, however, a warrior deep within and I REFUSE to let life be anything but just okay.

Get angry, get determined, then be relentless! Yes RELENTLESS!
Fitness is more than physical bulls**t, it is a balance, a discipline, a healing, and strengthening lifestyle.
