Follansbee Youth Basketball The Follansbee Youth Basketball League is back! This league will be open to children residing in Brooke County, from kindergarten to fifth-grade entrants.

We are excited to provide the youth with the knowledge, skills, and camaraderie of the game. 🏀

We are excited to announce signups are open through June 1st! Just click the QR code!

A few announcements/reminders:

This is just for Brooke County kids going into K through 5th grade this upcoming school year 2026/2027

We do work around the flag football schedule

We are also starting a week later this year to work around baseball playoffs but all stars might interfere

Teams/Rosters will be different every year

We did add a waiver this year, make sure you read it and agree to it to allow your child to play

We are trying to add an all girl’s division in our Varsity league so let’s get some girls to signup to make this happen

We will have flyers distributed in the schools like last year so keep an eye out for those too
Lastly, we will need coaches and referee volunteers!

Thank You for an Incredible Season

On behalf of the Follansbee Youth Basketball League, we would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this season such a tremendous success. The outpouring of support from the community has been truly overwhelming, and we are deeply grateful to each and every one of you.

First and foremost, we want to recognize the kids and their families. Our initial goal was to have 50 participants this year; we more than doubled that, ending the season with 104 registered players.

Thank you to the City of Follansbee for allowing us to revitalize the league at Mahan Park. Your support made this season possible.

We are also extremely thankful for the generosity of our sponsors. Your donations and encouragement played a vital role in creating a positive experience for the children.

A special thank you goes out to Follansbee United Methodist Church for donating snacks, Bruce and Jesamyn Marshall (Fuscardo Family Urgent Care) for donating drinks and snacks, Skip Cutrone (Vito’s) for providing us with ice for coolers, Derrick and Savanna Beatty (Wash’d Up) for donating popsicles and supplies, Katie and Joe Kafton for donating candy for the 4th of July parade, Marcus Alkire for creating the schedule, and anybody else that we may have missed.

We would also like to thank Riverview Tee Designs for working with us on the team and league shirts.

We are also grateful to everyone who assisted at the scoring tables during games—your help did not go unnoticed.

To our coaches: thank you for stepping up and volunteering your time and energy. Your dedication made a lasting impact.

To our families: thank you for your continued support, patience, and efforts throughout the season as we worked to organize and grow the league.

We hope all of the kids had fun, learned valuable basketball fundamentals, and created memories they’ll carry with them. While we faced a few challenges with the weather and the courts this season, we appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

Thank you once again for your incredible support. We are already looking forward to an even better season next summer. Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer!

A few special shoutouts….

First to Derrek and Savanna Beatty, owners of Wash’d Up, for donating the popsicles for this last week of the season for all the kids. They have already donated to the league and purchased other supplies and Derrek also coaches a team. Thank you guys so much!!

Secondly to Follansbee United Methodist Church. They have donated freeze pops and all the snacks, such as chips, crackers, rice crispy treats and so on the last few weeks and we are doing another pick up from them tomorrow of even more snacks for the kids.

We couldn’t do this without any of you and we appreciate everyone so much! THANK YOU! 🏀

Special shout out to Mr. Skip Cutrone for donating all the ice today. Mr. Cutrone is allowing us to get ice every time we have a game from his restaurant, Vito’s. Thanks sir, we all appreciate it!! 🏀

Just wanted to give a shoutout to a few people. Ms. Iris Ferrell and Ms. Shelley Smith each gave me a very generous donation yesterday for the league.
