Florala Varsity Wildcats Walk-Off In Nail-Biter Against McKenzie Varsity Tigers
Florala Varsity Wildcats took Tuesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 10-9 walk-off victory over McKenzie Varsity Tigers. Florala Varsity Wildcats were down 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning when an error scored two runs.
Bats blistered as Florala Varsity Wildcats collected seven hits and McKenzie Varsity Tigers tallied seven in the high-scoring game.
McKenzie Varsity Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Leah Davison singled to center field, Alivia Freeman singled down the left field line, Natalee Nall walked, and McKenzie Varsity Tigers scored on a passed ball, each scoring one run.
Florala Varsity Wildcats tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Paige Musso, a single by Jailee Jones, and a passed ball.
In the top of the fourth inning, McKenzie Varsity Tigers went back into the lead after Shelby Bennett singled to the left side of the infield, Aly Brooks singled to the left side of the infield, Gracen Finklea singled down the right field line, and Florala Varsity Wildcats dropped a third strike, each scoring one run.
Florala Varsity Wildcats jumped into the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Musso doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and an error scored two runs.
Musso earned the win for Florala Varsity Wildcats. The lefty allowed two hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out 11 and walking one. Brooks took the loss for McKenzie Varsity Tigers. The starter went six and one-third innings, surrendering 10 runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out five and walking three. Kiley Caine started the game for Florala Varsity Wildcats. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out one and walking six.
Musso drove the middle of the lineup, leading Florala Varsity Wildcats with two runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. Musso and Kensie Holcomb each stole multiple bases for Florala Varsity Wildcats. Florala Varsity Wildcats stole seven bases in the game.
Bennett and Davison each collected two hits for McKenzie Varsity Tigers. Brooks, Bennett, Finklea, and Freeman each drove in one run for McKenzie Varsity Tigers.
