"Slider" pins on your bow? 🤷‍♂️🤦
In most real hunting situations, while hunting from the ground out west, you won't have the time, nor can you afford the movement of a slider pin setup. It will always cost you more opportunities than help. We know people brag on them, but throughout our countless experiences each season, we have banned our hunters from bringing them! They are a total waste of our time and efforts. The same goes for sights with built in range finders, you need to know the range before you draw your bow, or have someone ranging for you. Using a multiple fixed pin sight is the most lethal way to go.
Most can't understand why, but for western hunting experiences, start your first pin at 30 yards and go out as far as you can go from there. Get a sight that has more than 5 pins. It's not hard, it's fast and easy and lethal. If you actually practice, you'll know all your pins like your own fingers. If you practice out to 100+ yards, you can learn things about yourself and your bow that you can never learn under a hundred yards. Practicing out to 100+ yards will make those more common 40-60 yard shots seem easy and help you to be more calm.
Don't just shoot your bow, actually practice for hunting! Practice at all oddball ranges and from all oddball positions! Shoot through branches and over bushes and under logs. Most importantly teach yourself to perform under pressure in any situation until you know everything about your bow and it becomes a natural, comfortable extension of your body!
Some other lethal western hunting suggestions for your bow that most won't understand are, Whisker Biscuit rest, it's the most all around lethal hunting rest on the market! Mega Meat Broadheads, small simple stabilizer, a normal bow attached quiver, a release that straps to your wrist and lighted knocks. It doesn't matter what the newest gadget everyone wants to sell you is. Don't follow the crowd, do what's actually lethal. These suggestions will truly help make you the most lethal you can be in all true western hunting situations.
In everyone's preparations for their hunts, it seems that they prepare the least for shooting in actual hunting scenarios and under actual hunting pressures.
When it comes to practicing, don't do what everyone else does. Step up your game! Animals don't get mature by being killed by every Average Joe in the woods.

"If you want to harvest extraordinary animals, then you have to be ready, willing, and able to do extraordinary things!"
-Lance Crowther.
