The most powerful teachers aren’t the ones with the fanciest sequences — they’re the ones who make people feel safe enough to try, stumble, learn, and rise.

Struggling with wrist discomfort in weight bearing poses?
Or feeling wobbly in standing shapes?
My last two posts covered the foundations — steady feet and balanced hands — and now I’ve created something to help you put it all together.
Download “Wrist Pain No More” — a free, in depth PDF that walks you through the alignment principles behind both topics.

This old, grainy photo is me teaching my trainees how to use the tingshas — a tiny tool with a big lineage. Rooted in Tibetan Buddhist ritual, tingshas were used for meditation, clearing energy, and marking sacred transitions. In yoga, they help focus the mind, shift the room’s energy, and gather everyone together (yes, even the chatty ones — and I love community before class so we honor tradition and still have fun).
We strike them three times because “three” is sacred across cultures — a full cycle of awakening the body, clarifying the mind, and re illuminating the spirit. After savasana, when the mind is wide open, those tones create a gentle pathway back into the world. I love them for that.
Quick tip for getting the best sound: hold the string lightly between your fingers so the tingshas can hang and move freely. The action is in the wrist. When you strike them, let one sit just slightly below the other so they meet off center instead of clanging. I also like to start the first strike soft and let each one grow a little louder — a gentle way to guide everyone back. Try it and tell me how it feels in the comments.
