Sting 14U Trounce Hozho HBC

Sting 14U won big over Hozho HBC 12-4 on Saturday at Farmington Sports Complex.

Sting 14U jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Corbin Oliva doubled, scoring two runs, and Brody Smith singled, scoring one run.

Sting 14U added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Trystan Taylor singled to center field, Hozho HBC committed an error, and Carver Smouse singled , each scoring one run.

Sting 14U scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jared Jurado singled, scoring one run, Dylan Antonson drew a walk, scoring one run, Michael Fauteaux tripled, scoring two runs, and Oliva singled, scoring one run.

Taylor earned the win for Sting 14U. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two. #4 took the loss for Hozho HBC. The pitcher went two innings, giving up six runs (two earned) on seven hits, striking out two and walking none. Antonson appeared in relief for Sting 14U.

Sting 14U amassed 12 hits in the game. Oliva provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Sting 14U with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Smouse, Oliva, Smith, Jurado, and Fauteaux each collected two hits for Sting 14U. Sting 14U turned one double play in the game.

#21 led Hozho HBC with one run batted in. #21 went 2-for-3 on the day.

Sting 14U will travel to Crazy Potatoes 14U for their next game on Sunday.

Big First Inning Leads Sting 14U Past Dirt Devils

Sting 14U defeated Dirt Devils 22-1 on Friday at Farmington Sports Complex thanks in part to 16 runs in the first inning. Carver Smouse doubled, scoring two runs, Trystan Taylor drew a walk, scoring one run, Sam Avery drew a walk, scoring one run, Barrett Patterson drew a walk, scoring one run, an error scored one run, one run scored on a dropped third strike, Dylan Antonson doubled, scoring one run, Brody Smith singled, scoring two runs, Avery doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Sting 14U scored six runs on zero hits in the top of the second inning. Rome Chee grounded out, scoring two runs, Avery drew a walk, scoring one run, and Avery scored after tagging up.

Patterson started on the mound for Sting 14U. The starter gave up one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking none.

Smith drove the middle of the lineup, leading Sting 14U with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-1 on the day. Smouse went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Sting 14U in hits. Sting 14U had patience at the plate, piling up 10 walks for the game. Patterson, Avery, and Taylor led the team with two free passes each. Patterson, Gage Benally, and Jared Jurado each stole multiple bases for Sting 14U. Sting 14U ran wild on the base paths, collecting 12 stolen bases for the game.

#23 led Dirt Devils with one hit in one at bat.

Sting 14U scored 17 runs in the first inning, which helped them defeat Wolfpack 14U 24-0 on Tuesday at Farmington Sports Complex. Dylan Antonson singled, scoring one run, Gage Benally drew a walk, scoring one run, Brody Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, Rome Chee singled, scoring two runs, Barrett Patterson drew a walk, scoring one run, Trystan Taylor drew a walk, scoring one run, Jared Jurado drew a walk, scoring one run, Ashton Ortega doubled, scoring three runs, Carver Smouse doubled, scoring one run, Smith grounded out, scoring two runs, Chee doubled, scoring one run, and Patterson singled, scoring one run.

Sting 14U scored seven runs on four hits in the top of the second inning. Slade Johnson doubled, scoring two runs, Jurado singled, scoring one run, Antonson doubled, scoring one run, Smith drew a walk, scoring one run, Chee drew a walk, scoring one run, and Brady Beckstead drew a walk, scoring one run.

Antonson stepped on the hill first for Sting 14U. The starting pitcher surrendered zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking none. Smith pitched one inning of no-run ball for Sting 14U in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out one and walking none.

Sting 14U accumulated 14 hits in the game. Smouse, Ortega, Chee, Antonson, and Johnson each collected two hits for Sting 14U. Chee went 2-for-2 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Benally paced Sting 14U with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing 14 walks for the game. Benally stole two bases. Sting 14U stole seven bases in the game. Sting 14U didn't commit a single error in the field. Ortega had the most chances in the field with two.

Carver Smouse singled, scoring one run, Dylan Antonson drew a walk, scoring one run, Rome Chee drew a walk, scoring one run, Gage Benally singled, scoring one run, a wild pitch scored one run, Slade Johnson singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Ashton Ortega drew a walk, scoring one run, Brody Smith singled, scoring three runs, Smouse tripled, scoring one run, Benally drew a walk, scoring one run, and Barrett Patterson singled, scoring one run.

Sting 14U jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after an error scored two runs, Benally singled, scoring one run, Patterson singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, Johnson singled, scoring two runs, and Trystan Taylor doubled, scoring one run.

The righty surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Sting 14U collected 13 hits in the game. Sting 14U's Patterson, the number seven hitter, led Sting 14U with three hits in three at bats. Smith and Benally each drove in three runs for Sting 14U. Smouse and Johnson each collected multiple hits for Sting 14U. Sting 14U had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Sam Avery, Chee, and Antonson led the team with two bases on balls each. Smouse, Smith, Antonson, and Tanner Pickering each stole multiple bases for Sting 14U. Sting 14U ran wild on the base paths, accumulating 13 stolen bases for the game. Sting 14U were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Ortega made the most plays with three.

Sting 14U Rally Defeats 14U 4C Pride

Sting 14U trailed by as many as six, but came back to defeat 14U 4C Pride on Wednesday at Farmington Sports Complex, 11-6.

14U 4C Pride jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after an error scored one run, #29 singled, scoring one run, an error scored two runs, #22 singled, scoring one run, and #2 grounded out, scoring one run.

Sting 14U flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring nine runs on three hits to take the lead, 9-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Carver Smouse that drove in two.

Dylan Antonson led things off on the bump for Sting 14U. The starting pitcher allowed four hits and six runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking one. #77 stepped on the bump first for 14U 4C Pride. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and six runs (two earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking three.

Smouse led Sting 14U with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The shortstop went 1-for-1 on the day. Smouse, Barrett Patterson, Gage Benally, and Sam Avery each collected one hit for Sting 14U. Brody Smith led Sting 14U with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying nine walks for the game. Benally and Avery each stole multiple bases for Sting 14U.

#15 led 14U 4C Pride with two runs batted in. #19, #16, #29, and #22 each collected one hit for 14U 4C Pride. 14U 4C Pride turned two double plays in the game.

Sting 14U Stymied By Flagstaff Freeze

Sting 14U had trouble keeping up with Flagstaff Freeze in a 15-3 loss on Saturday at Continental Sports Complex.

Flagstaff Freeze got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Sawyer Turley grounded out, Jayden Hermansky doubled down the left field line, Justus Coddington singled to center field, Sting 14U committed an error, Roy Lawrence III doubled, Sting 14U committed an error, and Sting 14U committed an error, each scoring one run.

A double by Jaxon Fulton extended the Flagstaff Freeze lead to 8-1 in the bottom of the second inning.

An error, and a ground out by Lawrence III helped Flagstaff Freeze extend their early lead in the third.

Wade Merrell earned the win for Flagstaff Freeze. The starter surrendered five hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking three. Barrett Patterson took the loss for Sting 14U. The pitcher went three innings, surrendering 11 runs (three earned) on eight hits, striking out none and walking one.

Carver Smouse, Brody Smith, Gage Benally, Rome Chee, and Tanner Pickering each collected one hit for Sting 14U. Smouse, Smith, and Benally each drove in one run for Sting 14U. Sting 14U turned one double play in the game.

Flagstaff Freeze piled up 13 hits in the game. Fulton provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Flagstaff Freeze with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Luke Shaw led Flagstaff Freeze with three hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Coddington collected two hits for Flagstaff Freeze in two at bats.

Big First Inning Leads Bayfield Wolverines Past Sting 14U

Bayfield Wolverines defeated Sting 14U 18-4 on Sunday at 500 Llano St thanks in part to 10 runs in the first inning.

Bayfield Wolverines jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after #9 doubled, scoring two runs, #5 homered to left field, scoring three runs, #11 singled, scoring one run, #33 singled, scoring two runs, #7 doubled, scoring one run, and #44 singled, scoring one run.

Bayfield Wolverines added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after #5 homered to left field, and #11 singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Bayfield Wolverines scored six runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. An error scored two runs, #1 homered to left field, scoring two runs, and #13 homered to left field, scoring two runs.

Sting 14U scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to left field by Dylan Antonson.

#52 earned the win for Bayfield Wolverines. The hurler gave up zero hits and zero runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking one. Antonson took the loss for Sting 14U. The lefty went one-third of an inning, giving up five runs (zero earned) on three hits, striking out none and walking none. #5 started on the bump for Bayfield Wolverines. The starter allowed three hits and four runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three.

Antonson provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Sting 14U with three runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Carver Smouse and Ashton Ortega each stole multiple bases for Sting 14U. Sting 14U ran wild on the base paths, tallying eight stolen bases for the game.

Bayfield Wolverines accumulated 17 hits in the game. Number seven hitter, #52, showed the depth of Bayfield Wolverines's lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats. #5 hit two home runs in the game. The pitcher went 2-3 with two runs scored and four runs batted in. #9 and #5 each drove in four runs for Bayfield Wolverines. #1, #11, and #33 each collected multiple hits for Bayfield Wolverines. #52 and #44 each stole multiple bases for Bayfield Wolverines who stole nine bases in the game.

Sting 14U added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Crazy Potatoes 14U committed an error, Kameron McDaniel singled to center field, and Crazy Potatoes 14U committed an error, each scoring one run.

Elliot McGuinness opened the game for Crazy Potatoes 14U. The starter allowed one hit and three runs (one earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three. McDaniel, Jared Jurado, and Trystan Taylor each came on in relief for Sting 14U and shutdown Crazy Potatoes 14U.
