A little social media housekeeping, because apparently we all have enough to keep up with already.
Meta has changed some of the ways it identifies and reports when an image has been created or edited using AI tools. So if you see an AI generated image label on one of our graphics, we want to clarify that we do not use AI to create our graphics.
We do, however, use editing tools that Meta may classify as AI, such as background removal or other simple editing features. Apparently that is enough to get the little AI label these days.
And just to be clear, we do not criticize or look down on anyone who uses AI in their business. Running a small business is hard. Creating content is hard. Finding the time, energy, and creativity to keep showing up online while also actually running the business is a whole job in itself. We would never judge another small business owner for choosing to use the tools that make their life a little easier.
We just wanted you to know what that label means when you see it on our graphics.
One other thing that is important to us: We do not digitally alter people’s bodies to make them look more aesthetically pleasing in our graphics. What you see is what you get. Real people, real movement, real bodies.
There is already enough pressure to look a certain way. We would much rather celebrate people exactly as they are and create a space where you can come as you are.
And just to be extra clear, this is not a jumping off point for a debate about the pros and cons of AI created images. We are not here to tell anyone else how to run their business or what tools they should use. We are simply sharing how we approach our own content and giving you a little context about those labels when they show up.
Small business owners are doing their best out here. We are all just finding the tools that help us keep going.
With Love 💚💜
