KVCC has welcomed 15 new students to its 20-week Mechanized Logging Operations and Forest Trucking certificate program, which prepares students for careers in Maine's forest products industry. This marks the program's third year at KVCC's Alfond Campus in Hinckley and its 10th year within the Maine Community College System. Since its launch in 2017, the program has trained dozens of equipment operators and truck drivers who are now working throughout Maine forests and the Northeast.

2025/26 KVCC Athletic Banquet
Athletes, families, and friends came together to recognize the successes of our golf, cross country, and men’s and women’s basketball teams, while celebrating the dedication of the KVCC Foundation, leadership, coaches, and Lynx student-athletes.

NORMANDIN Award: Recognizes the overall Athletes of the Year for outstanding achievement across athletics, academics, leadership, and service. Congratulations to Grant Chamberlain (Cross Country) and Ella Miniham (Basketball)

LYNX Award: Honors a student-athlete who consistently performs at a high level while demonstrating strong leadership, character, and a positive impact on team success. Congratulations to Zack Hill (Golf), Grant Chamberlain (Cross Country), Ella Miniham (Basketball), and James Curry (Basketball).

Big News for Lynx Athletics!

Please join us in welcoming Rusty Mercier as the new Athletic Director at Kennebec Valley Community College!

Rusty brings 32+ years of coaching experience, a proven record of championship‑level leadership, and a deep commitment to student‑athletes. He currently leads KVCC’s inaugural Women’s Basketball program and has served as Senior Assistant Baseball Coach at Thomas College.

Rusty’s career includes:

2 state championships and 4 regional finals in women’s basketball

23 seasons of American Legion Baseball coaching

186 career wins and 14 playoff appearances as a high school head coach

Multiple Coach of the Year honors

We’re excited for the vision and energy he’ll bring to Lynx Athletics as we continue to grow and support our student‑athletes.

UPDATE, the men’s basketball game today against NHTI has been PPD. The women’s game against Washington County Community College is on as scheduled. Tip is 1PM.

Catch a game or two this Saturday. The Lynx Women's Basketball Team plays at 1, and the Men's Team plays at 3. Admission is free and refreshments are available. We'll see you there!
