Today was a great success for our Mushers in Valley! 🏃‍♀️ The team's collective efforts yielded 4 medals for top 10 finishes and strong performances across the board, with nearly every athlete beating their time from last week.
The junior high girls set the tone, with Ansel Wolf and Scarlett Fontenot leading the charge - Ansel's late-race surge earned her a close 2nd place finish, while Scarlett's strong performance secured 5th.
The junior high boys followed suit, with Gus Prescott, Fritz Frostenson, and Steven Martin all turning in impressive times and high finishes.
In the high school races, Mary Thurmond shaved an incredible 2 minutes off her previous time to take 5th, while Colton Fontenot's gutsy performance earned him 3rd place.
The future is bright for these talented athletes, and we can't wait to see them continue to grow and thrive! 💪

Great meet today in Valley for the cross country teams! I'll post results and a writeup later but if you've never been to a cross country meet here is what the start looks like and this is one of the smaller meets we go to! Credit to Jill Martin.

What an incredible season opener for our cross country team in Jerome! Despite scorching temperatures, our athletes dug deep and achieved remarkable results against strong competition. Scarlett Fontenot and Ansel Wolf, our standout 7th grade duo, brought home medals with top 10 finishes, propelling the girls team to a strong finish. Scarlett shaved over a minute off her previous year's time, while Ansel improved by an impressive 42 seconds - a testament to their hard work and dedication! Our junior high boys showcased remarkable depth, with six athletes breaking the 13-minute mark, led by Gus Prescott, Steven Martin, and Fritz Frostenson, who all cracked the top 20 and broke 11 minutes. The boys team secured an impressive 4th place finish, only behind teams from Burley, Twin Falls, and Jerome. Our high schoolers also shone bright, with Colton Fontenot leading the charge with a 12th place finish and a sub-20 minute 5k debut. This is just the beginning - we can't wait to see our team continue to soar to new heights this season! 🏃‍♀️💪

Season officially starts on Monday 8/10! Make sure you have your paperwork turned in, 9th/11th you need physicals & 10th/12th interim questionnaire. Let us know if you need an extra copy. Musher Strong 💪🏼

One week until cross country practice starts! See the schedule below for practices before school starts. This is high school and junior high.
Parent meeting on Wednesday after practice to go over expectations and answer questions.
High school athletes don't forget to have physicals done before the first practice!
Practices will be right after school once school starts on the 17th.

Camas County's very own Scarlett Fontenot earned the opportunity to compete at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships in the 1500 and had a great performance this morning! She finished 37th in the 11-12 year old age group running a new personal best time of 5:53.25! Very awesome for Scarlett to be able to compete on such a big stage! Congrats Scarlett!

Congrats to our junior high track athletes who went to Caldwell this last weekend to compete at the YMCA Championships! In order to qualify for this meet athletes have to hit a qualifying mark during the season and then they get to compete against other athletes in grade levels. We had 9 athletes who competed this weekend and they put up great performances with a lot of new personal records and competitive finishes! Some of these athletes competed in other events not shown on these results but I wanted to include each kid at least once.
If you notice the highlighted result of Colton Fontenot in the 1600 it is because he set a new junior high school record in that event! Really a great time and excited to see what he does in the future!
Great job to all of these athletes for their performances and can't wait to see them all keep getting even faster!

Congrats to Austin Fredrickson on his 5th place finish in the 300m hurdles at state track! He ran a new PR of 42.89 to finish his high school career with a medal!

Camas County High School senior Clancy Rablin is taking his talents from Fairfield to Nampa after signing his National Letter of Intent to compete in track and field at Northwest Nazarene University.
