The 2026 season is almost over but we are not done yet 🏁 we have a brand new boat just about ready to hit the water and never ending work in the search of more speed. Even though we won the Western Divisional Championships 🏆 hahaha never give up never surrender, you can always learn something

Nothing beats the sound of a modified Mercury screaming to life. 🏁 Dropping the flag at Lake Ming and letting that 2-stroke sing! 🚀 3…2…1… lift, start, and hold on tight. Timing is everything to nail the clock start and to lead into the first turn. 💨🔥

D Mod Hydro’s takes off 🏁🚀

These are 44 cubic inch, 4 cylinder, Mercury 2 stroke’s that have been heavily modified for the rules of racing in the American Power Boat Association “D” Modified class.

The pursuit of perfection is won in the details. 🛠️

Had a solid session getting the Mod hydroplane out on the water. Got a clean launch, a crisp start, and some great laps under power. But the real race happens back here in the pits.

Currently diving deep into the data to review engine performance, RPMs, and water conditions to dial in that absolutely perfect setup for the next event.

Big thanks to the pit crew for the flawless launch and retrieval!

3…2…1…lift….start….set down gently….take off 🚀

To start the race boats we sit floating off the beach with our crew pointing the boats out towards the race course. We are listening for the 3 minute mark, that is the countdown you hear.

When the announcer says 3…2..1 that tells the drivers and teams we have 3 minutes to get on the course and get the boats on plane. The surface piercing small props we run take a second to get going, they are meant for high speed and turning. Once we are going and on plane we have to time it just right. The goal is to be in the lane you want (think running track around an oval course) and full throttle at top speed, or near it, a fraction of an inch behind the start line when the 3 minute clock finally counts down to zero. That is the actual start of the 3 lap race. It’s called a clock start
