Had a fun week of finding a couple nice deer! These two deer had similar stories but different outcomes. The first 3 pics are of a buck shot on his right side, no pass through and very little blood. The hunter backed out after what he seen during the first 30 yrds of tracking and seeing his arrow and called. There was about 8 inches of pe*******on with a low quartering shot. We were able to find this deer under 100 yrds from the shot sight, looked like he had been standing there for awhile, bleeding some, then bedded while we watched. The hunter was able to recover this deer the next morning in that exact bed! A perfect example of how important it can be to BACK OUT and give the deer time. Bumping a wounded buck can be the difference in recovery.
The last 2 pics are of a buck shot that was also not a pass through, and very little pe*******on. The hunter was pretty sure the shot was dead in the shoulder, and from what we seen we believe that is what happen. We watched this buck for close to an hour to determine if he was fatally wounded. This deer showed no signs that he was seriously hurt and showed back up on cam 2 days later.
Sometimes things don't always go to plan in the woods, things happen. If you find yourself questioning the shot or blood, or are just unsure, give me a call. Advice is always free, and we can determine the best course of action!
