During a 2016 preseason matchup between the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks, a light-hearted moment unfolded when Dylan Larkin and Steve Ott photobombed a young fan from inside the penalty box. Four-year-old Lylah Almas was posing for a picture while being held by her mother near the glass, completely unaware that both Red Wings forwards were leaning in behind her with big grins as they served minor penalties.
Her mother only noticed the hilarious additions after checking the photo later, turning the image into an instant hit online. The Red Wings even shared it on Instagram with a playful caption calling it a “classic Ott, Larkin penalty box photobomb,” and the post quickly racked up more than 26,000 likes. The moment became a fan favourite, showing a fun and human side of the players as they connected with one of their youngest supporters in a uniquely memorable way.
