This is the part of the season no one wants to talk about.

The final tournament. The last postgame talk. Tryouts. Forming a new roster. Making difficult phone calls. Saying goodbye to players and families who have become part of your own.

Before we turn the page to another season—if baseball season ever truly ends—we want to pause and celebrate this incredible group of Dogs.

They finished the 2026 season with a 36-21-1 record, five championships and three runner-up finishes. They traveled to nine cities across six states and competed against 44 teams from 10 different states.

There were big wins, tough losses, long drives, early mornings, late nights and more memories than we could ever fit into one post.

We watched these boys hit nearly .400, steal 447 bases, hit their first home runs, throw shutouts and no-hitters, turn double plays and compete against some of the best teams we could put in front of them.

But the greatest accomplishments cannot be found in a scorebook.

We watched boys become better teammates. We watched boys learn how to respond when things didn't go their way. We watched them pick each other up, battle through adversity and play with more grit than we've seen with any team we've coached.

Every player who wore this uniform left his mark on this team. Every family made sacrifices that allowed these boys to chase something they love. Every practice, tournament, hotel stay, team dinner and moment in the dugout became part of a season we will never forget.

As we move forward, the roster may change and the next chapter may look different. That is one of the hardest realities of travel baseball. But nothing can take away what this group accomplished together or the relationships built along the way.

To every player and family who shared this season with us: thank you.

Thank you for the trust, commitment, sacrifices, memories and love you gave this team. It has been an honor to coach these boys, watch them grow and be part of their journey.

We could not be prouder of the players they have become—and even more importantly, the young men they are becoming.

This chapter may be ending, but it will always be part of our story.

We’ve had the privilege of watching you grow since you were 6 years old, and you’ve never stopped impressing us. Your competitive spirit, passion, coachability, and the way you always pick up your teammates make you a special player and an even better young man.

June was a GRIND for these boys 💪⚾️

They battled through the Space Coast World Series in Viera, FL and the PG East World Series in Elizabethtown, KY — playing 11 games, traveling over 2,000 miles, and competing in heat indexes well over 100° with multiple delays due to weather to top it off.

The results weren’t exactly what we wanted, but the growth, toughness, and grit showed against some great teams from Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina was something special.

A few highlights worth recognizing:

🔥 Every player on the roster took the mound this month — stepping up in big moments while managing arms through long tournaments
🔥 Four players handled catching duties, throwing out 6 runners + 1 back pick (15% CS rate) with just 18 passed balls on nearly 1,000 pitches
🔥 Offensively, the team hit .383 with an OBP near .500, collecting 20 extra-base hits including 4 bombs (One Grand Slam 💣)
💣 Jacob Risner - 2 HR (1 GS)
💣 Aydenn Payton - 1 HR
💣 Dillon Trowbridge - 1 HR
🔥 On the bases? 56 stolen bags — aggressive and relentless

If you know these boys, show them some love — they’ve earned it.

This weekend we celebrate America’s 250th 🇺🇸 with a little work, then it’s on to the final tournament of the season… playing UP in 11U.

Let’s finish strong.

We are a little behind on posting but catching up while vacationing ahead of this weekend's events in Florida.

🔥 SANDLOT CHALLENGE RECAP 🔥

The Hit Dogs Evansville battled all weekend and showed grit, resilience, and some outstanding individual performances!

🐾 Tournament Highlights:
⚾ 42 runs scored on 47 hits
⚾ Dominant pitching performances across the whole staff
⚾ Battled back from deficits and never stopped competing

💥 Offensive MVP - #99 Clay Haley came up big in run-producing situations all weekend including a walk-off double against Southside Smoke on Saturday!

🔥 Defensive MVP - Hit Dogs pitching was phenomenal all weekend long, putting up a combined 2.07 ERA (9 ER) and a 1.07 WHIP with 32 K's while only giving up 7 walks all weekend long

Most importantly, the boys continued to grow, compete, and represent the Hit Dogs with tremendous effort and sportsmanship especially in an absolute battle against the USSSA #1 ranked Indiana ( #19 Nationally) 10U Major Athletics Baseball Club Black.

Extremely proud of the boys. Now on to the Space Coast Global World Series in Vierra, FL!🐾⚾💪

Your Hit Dogs put together a strong weekend on the diamond, going 3-1 with big plays, tough pitching, and relentless energy! ⚾🔥

The Dogs opened with a 10-4 win over Missouri Gators Eaton 10U, using an 11-hit attack and aggressive baserunning to pull away. Risner led the charge at the plate while the team swiped 10 bases and exploded for five runs in the fourth inning.

After a tough matchup against Mineral Area Nationals on Saturday, the team answered back Sunday with a gritty 3-2 victory behind a dominant complete-game performance from Shelton, who struck out six over six innings with no earned runs.

The weekend wrapped up with another win over Missouri Gators Eaton 10U, 7-4. Risner launched an inside-the-park home run, while Trowbridge and Fuller delivered key RBIs to help seal the championship.

GMB Named Gage Shelton and Aydenn Payton Tournament Co-MVPs with their Top Ten award.

Players of the week:

Jacob Risner - #23 continued to be a table setter for the offense with some hard shots at the plate including a moonshot that would have been over any standard sized field for 10U.

Holden Belwood - #7 was clutch behind the dish keeping the ball in front of him and holding runners in scoring position while being a constant voice of encouragement to the pitchers.

Proud of the fight, hustle, and teamwork this group showed all weekend long! Keep up the work boys!💪⚾
