In Loving Memory of Joel Davis
Nine years have passed, yet our community continues to feel the absence of a truly remarkable man.
Joel Davis was more than a New York State Trooper. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loyal friend, a trusted mentor, and a coach who believed in serving others both in and out of uniform.
Before joining the New York State Police, Joel dedicated ten years to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. He then proudly served four years as a New York State Trooper, carrying himself with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the people he protected.
But Joel’s legacy extends far beyond law enforcement.
He was a proud graduate of Indian River High School, where he played both soccer and baseball. His love for the game never faded. He gave back to the next generation by coaching youth baseball and serving as commissioner of the Evans Mills youth baseball program, teaching young athletes not only how to play the game, but how to carry themselves with respect, character, and heart.
When tragedy struck, it forever changed this small community. Hearts were broken, but in our grief, we also witnessed the strength of a community united. Joel’s life reminded us that one person truly can make a difference, and his impact continues to be felt through the lives he touched.
Those who knew Joel speak of his kindness, his compassion, his humility, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He led by example, loved his family deeply, and served his community with honor.
Today, we remember Joel not for the way his life ended, but for the incredible way he lived.

Though nine years have passed, his memory remains alive in the hearts of this community. His service, his kindness, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
