If we hold the derby again next year, I'm thinking we'll up the big fish entry to 35 inches so we can have a wider slot. What does everyone think about that?

How to measure your halibut. Today's slot size is 25-7/8 so bring in halibuts that are 3-inches above and below that measurement and whoever brings in a fish that is measured closest to 25-7/8 will win first prize and then 2nd, 3rd place will be awarded. Measure tip of the nose to the center of the tail, lay fish flat and straight on your ruler.
