It's transition season! The Lazy-ish Sunday Road Rides had their last ride of the season on Sunday while the FCC Zwift Rides had their first (impromptu) ride on Monday night. Our fatbike rides will start soon -- after we get some snow.

We had the last Brunch Ride of the season on Saturday. The riders took an interesting route that included paved roads, gravel roads, and trails - ending with a brunch at Lulu's Bread and Bagels. FCC member Ryan Kabat is raising money for Breakthrough T1D, a Type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization. One way Breakthrough T1D raises funds is through group cycle rides. Ryan will be riding in several rides, including in Austin, Texas, starting October 29.

FAST Fairbanks Area Surface Transportation Planning has opened a comment period for its DRAFT 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. It is important for cyclists and other non-motorized users to comment. The project map allows you to filter by type of project. Commenting is a good way to advocate for all types of transportation.

According to the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, the Fairbanks City Council has postponed an ordinance that would define how the city handles different classifications of electric bicycles and motorbikes.

From the story:

--During discussion, Council member Jerry Cleworth called for postponement and requested an ad hoc committee of stakeholders be formed to discuss the matter.

“It’s winter time and we don’t need to be any big hurry,” Cleworth said.

On Wednesday, O’Neall disagreed with the need for an ad hoc committee.

“This seems like unnecessary oversight to me, especially since we have a Fairbanks Area Surface Transportation Planning who already has a committee who has been working on this,” O’Neall stated on Facebook.--
