Brookings - University Plains Speedway Day 2

Sunday August 23rd was day 2 at University Plains Speedway and the South Dakota State Championship race. Next weekend we need to choose between 2 big races: the last race weekend in Atwater or the Bullring Nationals at Plessis in Iowa. Decisions, decisions 🤷‍♀️🙂

Heat 1 - P4 to P3 ( very close finish with his buddy Vernon, we almost got 4th 😬)
Heat 2 - P3 to P7
Feature P5 to P5. Congrats to all the competitors in Junior 1.

Brookings - University Plains Speedway Day 1

Saturday August 22nd was the first day of Brooking’s 2-day show and we finally got some speed back. Congratulations Collin for your 2nd place finish in Junior 1 today. We are so proud!
Sunday is day 2 and the South Dakota State Championship race.

DATE UPDATED! (sleepy brain...my fault).

Who else is excited?!? 2 day race weekend (come to 1, come to both :-) )

August. 22nd: normal times. Drivers meeting at 1:30pm. Points Race.
August. 23rd: Drivers meeting at 11:30am.

We have decided that we wanted to give all of our regular classes that chance of the championship trophy.
For the first time I am aware of, this includes Rookies, Mowers & Stingers.
(As of today, I haven't decided if I will post a picture of the trophy pre race day or not but yes it is Mt. Rushmore.)
I will be putting up a poll today to decide on lap counts for the championship. Majority wins so make sure to choose an option!

If you’ve never experienced a slump as a race team, consider yourself lucky. To say our team is frustrated is an extreme understatement. We have changed pretty much every part on the kart in the last few weeks trying to figure out why we just aren’t getting the results that we had been getting at the beginning of the season. Everything but the motor, until today!

Today we raced at University Plains Speedway in Brookings, SD.

Results: Heat 1 - P3 to P4
Heat 2 - P4 to P5
Feature - P5 to 5

Driver is frustrated because he’s giving it his all. And the kart isn’t cooperating.
Crew chief is frustrated because he works so hard to make our little team fast.
And the tire lady is frustrated because usually tires make a big difference. And the time put in lately has not proven that.

We put our spare motor on and will be sending our other one in to be worked on. If the weather isn’t too bad, we might go run a few practice laps on the spare motor on Sunday. Something’s gotta give, right?

Today's the day!! Pits open @ 9am. Spectator Gates @ 11am. Drivers meeting @ 130 by the tree (bring raceceivers!). Green flag drops at 2 for hotlaps with heats and races to follow!
Pit passes: $20 each. Grandstand spectators: under 12 free
13+: $5.00 per person.
Michelle and Kurt will have awesome concessions as always! And don't forget to find Mama Wulff and say hi as she came to visit today also!!

Track prep is underway and things are looking great for our races on Saturday!!
Looks to be warm but still 20+ degrees cooler than our Maxxis races a week and a half ago!
Registration/pits open at 9am, drivers meeting at 1:30pm, hot laps start at 2pm.
We can't wait to see everyone again!!
