Last night, the Rivals scored their second win of the season against the Kindle Outlaws by a score of 11-1 in 5 innings.

Evan Stranko struck out the first 7 batters. Then Heath Betza and Henry Salvo relieved to combine for a no-hitter! The first no-hitter in Erie Rivals history. They struck out 11 of 16 batters and only allowed 2 base runners.

Josh Merchbaker, Logan Wells, and Nate Doutt all had doubles. Doutt reached base 4 times with 3 walks and 1 hit. The Rivals totaled 9 hits and 9 walks in the mercy rule performance.

Evan Stranko (3 IP, 0 H, 8 K’s, 13 swing and misses on 15 swings)

The Rivals got their first win of the season against last year’s champion, the Braendel Services Outlaws by a final score of 3-2.

After trailing 2-0, the Rivals tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning thanks to a Jake Rocky solo home run.

After Brady Coleman held the score at 2-2 in the top of the 7th, Tyler Banks scored Toby Vahey on a walk-off sac fly to win the game!

Heath Betza, Breckon Kitts, and Brady Coleman all excelled on the mound.

Toby Vahey had 2 hits and 2 runs.

Player of the Game: Jake Rocky (1 HR)

The Rivals next game is Wednesday (6/3) at 6pm at Ainsworth Field against the Kindle Outlaws.

The Rivals fell to TESCO 10-5 on Wednesday night to kick off the 2026 Glenwood League season.

Despite going down 5-0, the Rivals battled back and tied the game at 5-5 going into the 7th inning. However, they were unable to finish the job.

The opening game included very strong pitching performances from Evan Stranko, Pat Stafford, and Tony Wozniak. Nate Doutt and Tyler Banks put together multi-hit performances.

The Rivals next game is Sunday (5/31) against the Outlaws.
