What do you need to say YES to?

This past weekend I was extremely honored to speak to a room full of about 75 - 100 young women from all over the state of Minnesota, for Ladies in Leadership. What a fun day it turned out to be. Lovely young women from all over seeking growth and personal development. Unique challenges, unique experiences and unique individuals with common purpose, personal growth. I got to share something I am deeply passionate about and have been teaching and training on for 9 years now. (Wow! I just did that math, I started fall of 2016 down this road!)

Today the teaching was on

'Candor and Compassion Two Sides of Every Conversation and the Art of Connection.'

They engaged, asked questions, laughed, shared a few tears and learned something about themselves and the value of the other people at any table you may sit at.

I had absolutely no idea what I was saying yes to when I said yes to this and Laurel 3 months ago but boy am I glad I said yes! What a wonderful way to spend a day!

Today is the day I change out the 'wardrobe' accessories of my home. I am packing up the summer ocean/beach/garden attire and adorn her with a lifetime of collections for fall. Random rusty metal items picked up for less than $10 over the course of probably 40 years. Items passed down from previous generations with stories to tell. A few pumpkins and items in colorful oranges, reds and yellows. Warm afghans crocheting by my mother back in the 70's and 80's from Mason City, Ia or Buhl, Idaho. Tattered and worn devotional books that take prominence on tables for ready use with a warm cup of tea/coffee. Classic cookbooks with family favorite recipes and so much more. Dusting, sweeping, rearranging furniture, vacuuming and clearing out corners. 4 or 5 times a year my home changes her finishing touches of her wardrobe. It is always a fresh start to a new season. A comforting walk down memory lane. Many of these times share their history, stories and spark prayers for the people who gave them, passed them on or wore them out. People I love, people I cry out to the Lord for. 40 plus years of stories and prayers. Thank you Lord for the days I get to count my blessings once again!

One great privilege I have had over the last few years is the opportunity to attend worship services from coast to coast. Texas, California, DC, New Jersey, NYC and yes Oregon. From San Francisco to Washington DC and Portland, Oregon. Minneapolis, Mn. Places you might think have been abandoned by people of faith, and God himself. What I have witnessed with my own eyes and heart, this is where his light shines brightest! The hope of Jesus, the light of the world shines brightest in the darkest rooms! Praise the name of the Lord!
