What's old is new. If you didn't already know, biking in Detroit has returned in force!

GL Trivia - The Wayne County Courthouse in Detroit was built in 1897. It is a beautiful building with many artistic features. One of those features is a 40-foot-wide stairway with a storage space underneath that contains a mystery. What was that space under the stairs designed to store?

The storage space beneath the stairs was designed to store bicycles. The Wayne County Courthouse was built at the peak of the bicycle craze in this country and well before there was an auto industry.

Metro Detroit offers bike trails for any rider level, taking you from the city to the parks and the waterfront. Take a bike tour if you're new to the area.
