The spanish squat is one of many tools to address knee pain. The goal is to keep your squat as upright as possible, but there are many variations to the form and it’s going to look a little different for each person. Most important factor is that you don’t feel any pain while in your squat. I also pair this with my myofacial release techniques to get the quad to work more effectively.

There is programming, and there is the ex*****on of that programming. I take the ex*****on portion of the process very seriously and that means the details are everything. It’s important to me that the athletes at Chess know what I expect of them and how to train with intention. 🧐

It’s really the only way to level up. You absolutely must be ok with feeling uncomfortable. And then if you want to get real serious, you start actively inserting yourself into experiences that are guaranteed to deliver that feeling to you.

The trainer/ client relationship is a delicate balance between providing guidance and accountability, and installing the framework for the client’s own self awareness and responsibility.
I see it all too often that a client relies so heavily on that one hour workout with their trainer, checking the box off their to-do list for their health investment, but then checking out mentally for the rest of the day, ignoring the multitude of opportunities they have to create a healthy and peaceful life.
I am so proud of this man. He has embodied the true definition of what it means to be a student. Which is more impressive when you know that he holds the most prestigious ranks in leadership of our country’s diplomatic security.
I was excited to post his feedback in the hopes of inspiring someone out there who may be on the precipice of taking a closer look in the mirror. The truth is not as daunting when you make the effort to befriend it.

Truth is, every single day, I feel overwhelming gratitude that I found my purpose. And that is no exaggeration.
I love what I do so much I couldn’t imagine a life without this gift.
His story will always mean so much to me. Not only because I thrive in situations that have previously been defined as hopeless; where I get to apply every ounce of my intuition to make a positive impact.
But it is also a reminder that my path is paved by my willingness and ambition to seize opportunities.

The moment you realize that persistence is all about perspective, you will achieve the strength to conquer anything. There are those who stand at the bottom of the mountain and pause to measure up the multitude of challenges ahead of them, creating a looming endeavor before they’ve even started.
And then there are others who view the first step up the mountain simply that it is fractionally more inclined than the flat surface they’re standing on.

Reel in your thoughts and recalibrate the way you’re approaching your tasks. Most things are far more simple than we make them.
