Always cool to see old pictures of our building! Do you have any memories of the businesses that were in the building before us? I remember as a child playing with the hair dryer seats in Ron’s Hair’em! Also, spent many a night up in Jansen’s Dance waiting on my sister to finish up with her lessons. Fun times!
Good morning! Today's picture takes us to Jefferson Street in Effingham near the corner of Banker Street.
I'm sure many of you remember Fashion Lane. It was located next to W. S. Broom Furniture.
The store wasn't very big but it was packed full of merchandise. This was my go-to store to buy the new pantyhose that had just become popular. They also sold fishnets and opaques. That was a big trend when I was in Junior High.
I still have some tin Easter eggs that I bought from there after I was married and I still put them out every Easter. I also bought a lot of dish towels and dish cloths too. This store was one of the first "Super Discount" stores that I ever shopped at. Later it moved over to Banker Street when Spurgeons moved to the mall.
Please let us know if you remember the store Fashion Lane - Super Discount. I don't think this chain is in business any longer.
Wherever you may be, I wish you a wonderful day!
