Any full-time undergraduate student who is in good academic standing is welcome to tryout for the competitive team or participate as a non-competitive club member. As a member of IHSA, the team competes in hunt seat equitation with a maximum of 10 shows per season (approx. 3-6 show/semester). IHSA provides a unique experience to its members, because riders’ horses are provided by the host college
and chosen for each rider through a random horse draw at the beginning of each show. Although there is no limit to the number of riders eligible to register with IHSA, only 12 riders can attend any given show. The Edinboro team is limited to fifteen members. Members participating in IHSA competitions will be evaluated based on their riding ability and will be selected at the discretion of the coach and the executive officers. The current home of the Edinboro Equestrian Team is Ferghana Farms located 8 miles from the Edinboro University Campus. All team members are required to attend weekly lessons with the team coach and to pay a percentage of their weekly lesson fees. Attendance at meetings and participation in team fundraisers is mandatory. Membership dues must be paid at the beginning of each semester to help offset costs incurred by the team. For those of you who love horses and do not want to give up your passion for riding while attending a college or university, the Edinboro Equestrian Team can meet your needs and enrich your college experience. The equestrian team is an excellent way to mix extra curricular activities with your academic schedule. Members are provided with a variety of learning experiences and the opportunity to make friendships that will last a lifetime.
