Last weekend for the Fourth of July weekend, we traveled down to Paradise Raceway for the Maxxamillion. Friday, we would run Red Plate and if I remember correctly, there would be between 10 to 12. First practice went good and then went to go out for the second practice and the pull cord broke. Thankfully, Johnathon Gonia was in walking distance who had one and he helped get it put on to get him out on the track for the second round of practice. Come time to qualify, the pull cord would break again and the powers to be over the event would not allow the cord to be fixed on the grid, so they would not allow Hagan to qualify so he had to start in the back. Come race time, Hagan would start in the back and finish 8th. Saturday, we would make the decision to run Junior 1. Hagan started off in practice running good and when it came to qualifying, he stayed about the same time which would set him starting last. We were gonna try a different gear setup but Hagan was not feeling well and decided to not race. So, we packed up and brought it on home and gonna try another weekend.

It didn’t help the AC crapped out in the trailer and it was also 100 plus degrees as well.

Saturday, we made our way down to Lake City Speedway for the Shane Mouzon Memorial. Hagan had never raced here before, so we were coming for seat time. Hagan chose to run Junior 1 and Pro Junior 1 that day. 8 of them would be running in both classes that day. First qualifying, Hagan would qualify 8th for Junior 1 and almost 2 seconds off the pole sitter. Some changes to tire prep and Hagan would qualify 8th again but this time, he’d cut his time off the pole sitter down to a second. Set the kart up with a different gear set up and of course, Mother Nature had other plans to where the race would get cancelled. Even though he didn’t get to race, some seat time in Junior 1 happened and was helpful.

Yesterday, Hagan made is way down to the Lumberton Agriculture Center for some indoor backyard racing. First time he has ever raced indoors and it was an experience. Ran Little Junior A & B. Had to work the tires to get them as soft as we could and was able to get them to punch less than 30. He qualified fourth in both races and wasn’t much off time wise from the pole sitter. First race, he brought home fourth and then second race, he just squeeze in second place. The track was a drift fest when it came to race time, so Hagan was able to learn something from yesterday. Very proud with how well he done and how well he tried to advance forward at times.

After a month off, we made our way down to Southern Kartway for the Maxx Daddy race. 9 Red Platers (Rookie) would show up and Hagan would qualify 3rd in both Red Plate (Rookie) classes. First race, Hagan would finish third and the second race, would end the night coming in 9th after a little incident. Not a bad weekend for our first weekend back after a month off.

Yesterday, we adventured off to TTT for a little Backyard racing. Second time we had run on Ma###is and they were hooking up. We were. Lee focused on JR1 and trying to learn gearing in it. After some calls to Johnathon Gonia, some changes were made where Hagan would cut a second off his time in Jr1. Hagan would set the pole in Red Plate and start third in JR1. Come race time, he had the fastest kart in Red Plate. Hagan would lead the first 10 laps until coming into turn 3, a lap kart got in the way, causing Hagan to have to slow down and lose his momentum. Second place would go on and pass and take the lead and get the win. On to Jr1 he would start third and after a few laps, would call it a day. I believe we’re gonna put Red Plate on the back burner and focus more on Junior 1. Oh well, onto the next race!
