We are back at it this coming father day weekend. At Wenatchee super oval. The #14 Hobby stock /Thunder car/Sh*t box will be attempting to go fast. πŸ˜‚

It should be a good weekend for racing. This will be the first race you don’t need to bring your winter coat to watch.

Do you ever wonder what these idiots do for a living? We do the stuff nobody wants to do. We all just happen to be plumbers.

We have a pretty big gap between races right now. The Hobby Stock was down a man for the last race, but everything is finally here and ready to go. The Hobby Stock will be back on track June 20th, and the #4 modified will be racing the following weekend.

We’re looking forward to getting both cars running circles again after the break.

.Saturday night at Wenatchee Super Oval we brought out the #4 B Mod and the #14 Hobby Stock.

The #14 unloaded off the trailer and immediately decided it wanted to ride the struggle bus through the first practice. That included exploding the right rear brake going into turn one. We got that band-aided back together, and while looking the car over, John Vickery found the rear end had shifted and was almost 1/2 inch out of square. The car was horrible in the first practice, and we ended up going into the heat race with only one practice session.

Even with that, we managed a third-place finish in the heat race. We started 10th in the main and fought our way up to 7th. I’d love to say we had a car capable of winning, but the top six guys are some of the best around and put on an incredible six-car battle for the entire feature. We were happy just to be hanging onto the back of that train and got front-row seats to an awesome show. Every weekend so far feels like we’re getting closer and closer. Huge part this year so far has been Dale Wennerberg he decided to spot for me and has made a world of difference. I don’t have to look in my mirrors. I just get to listen and drive.

Now for the #4 B Mod of John Woodring β€” that car unloaded as an absolute rocket ship. Huge thanks to John Vickery, Danny Grill, and some Saturday morning witchcraft in the pits. John won his heat race and, after the invert, started on the pole for the feature. He led the first half of the race and opened up a sizable lead before a yellow changed everything. On the restart, John and the second-place car got together and both ended up at the back of the field.

They were both running at 110% and driving the wheels off their cars. John battled back to finish 9th, but this was still one of his best drives in a B Mod. We’re excited to see what the next race brings.

It was also Fan Fest weekend, and we were lucky enough to have my whole family come out and watch. This was my wife’s first time ever seeing me on the track in the car. I could win 100 races, but having everyone there means more than any amount of trophies or wins ever could.

Racing at any level takes a massive amount of time and effort, not only at the track but also in the shop. It’s an endless amount of late weeknights after work trying to keep these cars going. Nights like this remind you why all the hard work is worth it.

Getting ready for Saturday a Wenatchee super oval. Race two of the year. Found this little gem. Explains why my break peddle gaining an extra inch of travel. I don’t think that supposed to be that way.

That right there is junks. The 14 car is done for the season after 2 laps. Chassis and cage is bent all the through the back of the car. Good news is Cody standing here with me complaining about it. πŸ˜‚

So we are looking for a chassis if anyone has any leads.

First day the mods were back after issues on opening weekend kept them from running. John picked up a heat race win and started 4th in the main. Cody had to start in the back after we dealt with carb jetting issues and missed qualifying.

Both cars were fast. On lap two, Cody got caught up in a nasty crash after two cars in front of him got together, with one hitting the Turn 3 wall at full speed. Cody got on the brakes hard, but the track was covered in oil and water, so he was just along for the ride.

At the end of the day, Cody and the other driver are okay, and that’s what matters most.

We’ll get the car torn down and come up with a plan to get it repaired.
