Well… that’s a wrap for ’s first season in 14u together ! We didn’t finish exactly where we wanted too but we are sure proud of these girls! They never quit fighting! We put ourselves in the losers bracket the first day and had to play for our lives in 100 plus temps back to back the 2nd day. We put a lot of big 07 teams out before we finally ran out of steam. Our pitchers and defense were on 🔥 fire!
7th place out of 27 teams in our first year ain’t too shabby! Cannot wait to see how our 2nd year goes with this crew! ❤️🥎🤍

😢SHOOWEEE……this will be an emotional Coach post……..

One of our parents passed this photo along to me. We had just lost our only game in Chattanooga to a hard-playing team. It was a game that we coulda/woulda/shoulda won, but we didn’t. They earned it.

Then — both teams paused for a moment after shaking hands to share the Lord’s Prayer together……and I realized💡 it’s just another softball game. 🤦🏻‍♂️

**We finished in the TOP 8 out of 150+ teams in our grouping, so, I was still super-happy for our ladies!!

We were 8-1 overall during our 4 days in Tennessee while playing talented teams from 6 different states, which was an awesome experience!

WHAT GOT ME — we were standing around waiting to play, when another team of players from Florida came walking by who had just lost.

There was a teenage girl (15/16 years old) that was with this team who was riding a motorized wheel chair loaded down with softball equipment.…..and she had the biggest smile on her face while joking with a player who was walking beside her.

By the way — this young lady was also in FULL UNIFORM.….and proceeded down to join in with their team meeting……with HER teammates!!

I just stopped and watched her for a little while……and I LOST IT!! I walked away and just spent a few minutes alone in HIS presence. ☝️🙏

I spoke with a couple of parents from this team a short while later……I just had to know her story.

This young lady has a form of Muscular Dystrophy, and has never walked a single step.

BUT — she is at every practice, and every game…..usually the first one there and last one to leave. She goes to every tournament, and always warms up with the team. She helps carry the equipment and helps clean up team trash also…….EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

She even attends prospect camps with College Coaches!!

What a profound testament of unconditional love, faithfulness, and devotion……and what about her parents??? WOW!! I want to meet them too!!

I couldn’t even pull myself together to go talk to this young lady and let her know how awesome I thought her commitment level was.

What if…..just what if — that young lady had ONE AT-BAT?? One pitch? One play? One chance?

ONE STEP??

So many of us worry & complain about what we don’t get or what we don’t have……instead of just making the most of what we do.

I hope to cross paths with that young lady again at a ball field……and I will meet her, and ask for a picture with her since I am now one of her biggest fans!! 😉

Just Live, laugh, & love - and make the most of the little things — every, single, day.

There are so many everyday heroes roaming around on this earth if we just stopped for a moment to notice them……and appreciate them…..and also pause to enjoy moments like this 👇👇👇

These girls absolutely showed out this weekend going undefeated all day! They played some good competition but our bats finally caught 🔥! They def. deserve some rings! We have been battling all season against older teams and just barely coming up short right at the end. I guess they like being at the ball field for 14 hours in 100+ degree weather

These girls finally got to play all together as a “team”this past week in the big 7 in the spring tourney in Mo. and they absolutely showed out! They put up 76 runs for the weekend and only gave up 17. They went 7-1 just coming up short one game before the “ship” to a very tough Storm team! Most importantly they had a great time doing it together! They cheered for each other and talked each other up and just enjoyed playing the sport together. Unfortunately sometimes we forget that is what these weekends and travel ball are meant to be for! Getting better and having fun doing it!
