Yes, yes, yes. I constantly use the same comparison when I get asked, “Won’t it be hard to watch them cry?” As I’ve wrestled a screaming toddler into a car seat more times than I can count, there was never a point where I thought I should just give in and let them bounce around on the back seat. Water safety needs an overhaul, and it is moms like Nicole Hughes who are leading the fight.

When my daughter was 8 months old, I willingly handed her to the murderer who took her big brother’s life. And, then I watched as she fought off this killer...
