When we think about electric vehicles, we think of silent operation. An electric boat should be no different. But that was not the case with the original electric motor all Duffy 21 Classics were outfitted with from the factory. The transformation of this Duffy 21 began with the removal of the antiquated, brushed golf cart inboard motor and its noise-producing, belt driven prop shaft. Those components were replaced by the E Propulsion Navy 3.0 EVO Pod motor system—a silent, brushless motor with easy-to-ready digital Bluetooth display of available range and side mount control throttle.
The Navy 3.0 EVO Pod motor system, with CANBUS communication, was paired with E Propulsion’s lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) E series batteries. The two E-80 batteries with 8.2 kWh of available energy are no-maintenance upgrade from the Duffy’s original battery bank of 16, 6-volt, flooded lead-acid batteries. A new smart lithium battery charger quickly provides a full charge in half the time as its predecessor.
The Duffy 21 Classic is built for comfort and enjoyment! In addition to this Duffy 21’s repower with new technology, every component of this classic was updated as follows:
• New AC/DC bow 12V marine refrigerator, which keeps its contents cold on shore power or battery power when cruising.
