May Newsletter for Dixon School of Tae Kwon Do.
Dear Students:
May is a fun month for me. All of the April showers bring May flowers, pollen, and ragweed, which I am allergic to.
We had a couple of tough tournaments in April, but as a club, we did very well, I thought.
My congratulations to all the brave students who put their feet in the square of competition. It's not easy to lose when you did your best. "I'm not as good as so and so. Or I will never win any trophy like that guy." Don't tell yourself those lies! If you did your personal best, there is nothing to be ashamed of in life.
That is the measure of a person's character when they lose and not win. Are you going to complain about the results? Are you going to blame others? Or are you going to accept responsibility for your actions? Life is tough. It is not easy losing, but you must try to be positive about it. You need to ask yourself what I could have done to change the results? Do I need to practice more on my kicks, hand combos, or form?
I am truly proud of all of you who competed in the tournament in Dubuque and Janesville! If you did your personal best, you are a winner in my book. You will go far in life with an attitude of gratitude. The longer I live, the more I see life as a v***r. We are here today, gone tomorrow. I am thankful for each day I have on this Earth. I am thankful for each one of you as students.
Disappointments in life are everywhere, as you know. It is hard to keep a positive mental attitude. But one has to remind oneself of what God has brought them through before in life. Count your many blessings one by one and see what God has done.
Look to the Good Book, read Psalms. King David had some adversaries in life. Read what he wrote about and the problems he had. What he did to overcome adversity. Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say, rejoice!
God Bless,
Master Bill Moritz (Wild Bill)
