Here is one idea: Choose one behavior you want to contribute to every environment you’re in.

Maybe it’s encouragement. Listening. Accountability. Positivity. Curiosity.

Culture can feel like this enormous concept, but each person contributes to it through small repeated behaviors.

Couldn’t agree more! What are some of the inspiring books you have read lately?

Jim Rohn was mentored by Earl Shoaff. That relationship changed his life. But Rohn was also mentored by dozens of people he never met.

He was mentored by the authors whose books he kept on his shelf. By the philosophers he studied. By the historical figures whose biographies he read and reread. By the speakers whose recordings he listened to in his car.

Rohn called these "distant teachers" — and he believed they were among the most powerful mentors available to anyone.

The beauty of a book, Rohn taught, is that it gives you access to decades of someone's thinking in just a few hours. A biography lets you walk alongside a great life without being born in the right era or the right city. A recording lets you sit at the feet of a master teacher from the comfort of your living room.

This article explores Rohn's philosophy on finding mentors you'll never meet — and why your library might be the most important investment in your growth.

One of the areas I want Ignite Growth and Development to help organizations uncover is the gap between the culture a company says it has and the culture employees actually experience.

Most organizations have values, a mission, and a vision. But culture is revealed in the everyday behaviors underneath those words, how people communicate, what leaders reinforce, what gets tolerated, how accountability is handled, and what employees learn is truly important.

The goal isn’t to criticize the culture. It’s to create awareness.

Because once an organization can see where its stated culture and lived culture are out of alignment, it can begin intentionally closing that gap.

Question: What culture do you go into everyday?

September 19th: This interactive leadership workshop explores how culture is created, strengthened, and sometimes unintentionally allowed to drift out of alignment. Participants will examine the influence leaders have on their environment, the behaviors and patterns that shape culture over time, and the importance of aligning leadership, individuals, systems, values, and everyday habits around a shared direction. Through reflection, discussion, and practical application, leaders will leave better equipped to recognize cultural gaps, intentionally influence the environment around them, and take practical steps toward creating a culture where people and purpose move in the same direction. Look around your organization and ask, “What behaviors have become normal here that we never intentionally chose?”

That could be communication, lateness, negativity, lack of accountability or something positive like encouragement and ownership.
