I’m “jogging” on the treadmill for 5 minute intervals…sheesh it’s rough. Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia runs 2:06.26 for 26 miles!

The USATF qualifier schedule is shown below...the cost is $15 per event and relay leg. Please send/bring funds by June 8th so that we can lock in the relays and individual results. An email has also be sent.

As many of you see, I post a "few" videos of our Texas Cyclones athletes. The coaches really enjoy working with the athletes and seeing them improve. This year it has been "crazy" in the sense that new athletes are joining our club almost everyday. We do not advertise but we continue to grow. Our "advertisement" is the success of the athletes and just as important, the athletes talking to their school teammates. I heard that "we work hard but have fun". There is no greater compliment to a coach than that. Many of our athletes are stand out performers on their school teams and those same athletes always look forward to working with us. If an athlete lacks motivation to go to practice...something is wrong! They come to practice ready to roll.

Thank you parents for "trusting the process", we appreciate you.

Now back to your regular programming...I will be posting athletes again!

Intermediate and high school athletes that are finished with your school season...we are calling you. We now start our work towards the Junior Olympics in College Station. We have roughly 2 months to get there and we will hit the ground running. The USATF qualifier (June 14th/15th and 21st/22nd) will advance only the top 5 events and relays so that makes it very competitive.

This week is our last week at Walter Hall Park and starting April 15th we will move practice to Clear Springs High School. This week we will begin the first phase of getting in "Texas Cyclones" shape. It will not be easy but it is very rewarding. Of the 17 or so graduating seniors, 13 have signed to run track at the next level and we expect a few others to follow in their footsteps. We always hear, "Trust the process"...well the process must have results to be trusted. We believe our track record stands on its own...but that record depends on the hard work and dedication of the athletes and their parents.

We are in arguably the most competitive region in the country, so in order to compete you must work and not take anything for granted. We have personally trained athletes that were given offers based on their club season. Just as important, the athletes become better runners after the club season. It's funny, there are athletes that play school and club basketball and also the same in volleyball...in order to be better in school. Take a poll and see the club track athletes that run in high school...most are at the top of the rankings.

The Texas Cyclones had some outstanding performances at the H-town Hurricanes track meet Saturday. It’s always good to see where we are in the training…to see what works and what we need to work on.
