Our season opener didn’t go as planned, and due to slick road conditions it wasn’t safe for our opponents to travel.❄️

But that did NOT stop this team from getting out on the court and showcasing their outstanding abilities and sportsmanship during scrimmage play.🏀

Today was a true testament to the power of community. Our stands were packed with family members and Wylie peers holding signs they’ve been working on all week to support their Unified team. Other peers donated their time to run the game clock, an amazing DHS student stepped up to referee, and our favorite behind-the-scenes superhero, Mr. Maki🦹‍♂️, set up, cleaned up, and graciously allowed us to interrupt his day to use the gym.

Needless to say, we’re heading into the weekend with full hearts! 💖

Last Friday, Dexter’s Elementary Unified team welcomed the Saline Hornets to Al Ritt Stadium for a Unified soccer invitational. Athletes and peers showcased the skills and drills they’ve been working on this season, all in front of stands filled with family members, peers, and staff. 💛

It was a beautiful fall day, and the event was truly special! The experience was made even sweeter thanks to the generosity of The Blast Corn Maze, who provided both teams with cider and doughnuts to fuel up after their morning on the field.⚽️🏆
