💜 Coach Spotlight: Heidi 💜
Tell us about your life outside the gym:
When I’m not in my home gym, I enjoy the country life. We have a 13-acre farm, and now that I’m retired from daycare after 24 years, I absolutely love maintaining it. We have tons of fruit trees throughout our farm; I also enjoy spending time in my garden during the season. I enjoy canning & freezing. When I’m not busy on the farm, my passion is fishing, boating, riding motorcycles, camping, and actively attending to our 3 dogs. I enjoy family time the most, though. My husband and my kids (now adults) are my entire world. When I can, I try to see them as often as their schedules allow.
How did your fitness journey begin?
My fitness journey began after a head injury in 2012 (softball) that left me being told I’d never walk or talk. I had 3 small kids and a husband; I wasn’t ready to give up on life. They needed me as much as I needed them. While recovering at home I noticed a fitness commercial called ‘Insanity,’ something changed. A year later, the medical staff was shocked by my progress. I not only regained my functions but fell in love with fitness. I became certified in Insanity and Plyo, and it transformed me. I went from 209 lbs to a healthier me, discovering a journey I now live for.
What made you want to become a coach?
What made me become a coach? Actually, I was a coach back when it first opened years ago in DeWitt. I left coaching because of an injury that took me a long time to recover from. My daughter Court, who is also a coach at The Movement, convinced me to come back. Courtney knew I had a passion then and also saw that I still have it. Fitness helped me in so many ways. I knew I wanted to help others again. Seeing them improve their lives is a true inspiration to me.
What do you love about TM?
At The Movement, the workouts are great and meet all levels of fitness needs for members. But our members are what make it so special. The level of energy they bring is what teaching is all about for me. From the moment they walk in the door with a simple hello, do the workout, and still smile when leaving, it makes it all worth being their coach. This is a place where people join wanting to learn fitness movements, but you gain so much more. You find a friend, then two, along comes three, and before you know it, you have a family of fitness people who motivate you to become the best version of yourself. And this is what I love about The Movement!
