DRW Motor City Classic ⚙️
Detroit isn’t just a city, it’s a blueprint. Built by the people, for the people. Forged by blue collar hands that powered America’s automobiles and a sports culture where loyalty is passed down generation to generation. Triumphs. Struggles. And everything in between.
For Detroit Red Wings fans, history echoes loudly: four Stanley Cups in 11 years (11 total), legends like Steve Yzerman, Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, Terry Sawchuk, Pavel Datsyuk, their numbers hanging high as reminders when you look up from your seat at Little Caesars Arena.
But before the dynasty, there was the beginning.
In 1926, Detroit was awarded an expansion franchise in the National Hockey League. Named the Detroit Cougars in honor of the Victoria Cougars, the team wore the English “D” by player choice, a sign of gratitude to a city that gave them opportunity, belief, and a home. Even while playing games across the border during the build of Olympia Stadium, Detroit fans showed up by crossing into Windsor to support their team. That’s Detroit.
Nearly 100 years later, the Motor City Classic is our tribute, not just to the inaugural sweater, but to the factory workers, teachers, laborers, entertainers, and hospitality workers who shaped Detroit’s soul.
The metal gray tells the story: strength, resilience, and industrial heritage. From the assembly lines to Stanley Cup glory. Durable. Timeless. Earned. A color that reflects experience, grit, and pride, just like the city itself.
This is Detroit.
Heritage, worn with purpose.
Built for those who understand where this city comes from and what it stands for. I’m proud to finally share this with the grail community that’s ready to own a piece of Detroit history.
