While 8U and 10U got a break this week, 12U still had plenty of games. We battled through the week with several players out of town, getting help from friends on other teams and even some of our 10U players. So many girls stepped up, embraced new roles, and had opportunities to learn new skills.

12U vs. Momentum

A few defensive errors allowed the game to get away from us, but overall we did a good job at the plate. We were aggressive on the bases and did a nice job capitalizing on runners in scoring position.

Game ball: Alycia – for stepping in to help at 3rd base and have great quality swings at pitches during her at bats.

⸻

12U vs. Hot Mess

This was a tight game that we came up just short in. The girls competed hard from start to finish. We had several good hits with Alycia getting us a bases loaded, in the park home run!

Game ball: Kayleigh – for her willingness to trust the process and try new things. She executed every sign that was given, from steals and fake bunts to hitting situations—and even took an at-bat left-handed!

⸻

12U vs. Sunflowers

We came out a little flat in the first inning and let the other team’s aggressive baserunning speed us up. After settling in, we played better, but we couldn’t quite generate enough offense to climb back into the game.

Game ball: Maleah – for attacking ground balls aggressively, even when baserunners created traffic, and for laying down a beautiful bunt.

Game balls are awarded to players who go above and beyond their usual level of play by showing hustle, determination, and great sportsmanship.

The weather canceled some of our games last week, but 8U and 12U were still able to get some valuable field time in.

12U vs. Royals

We didn’t string together a lot of hits, but the girls found a way to get the job done.
Game ball: Madyson – for her hustle on the bases and solid play at 2nd base. She did a great job backing up plays and attacking ground balls.

⸻

12U vs. Blaze

We really focused on waiting on the ball this game and had several hard-hit balls right at defenders.
Game ball: Allahna – for her aggressive baserunning and constant positive attitude that kept the team energized and engaged throughout the game.

⸻

8U vs. Shockers

We battled through a close game and were able to pull away with some timely hits and key defensive outs.
Game balls: Khoral – for making some amazing catches, and Elliette – for great at-bats along with her hustle and backing up in the field.

It was a great first week of league play for our program! We finished 4-1 with lots of strong hitting, defensive plays, and solid pitching performances.

⸻

8U Twisters vs. Shockers

The girls played a great game. Everyone was hustling, communicating, and backing each other up defensively. We had solid hitting throughout the lineup and were much more aggressive on the bases. We also made several heads-up plays for outs.
Game ball: Tessa – for backing up plays, swinging hard, and consistently putting the ball in play.

⸻

10U vs. Khaos Teal

We came out a little flat and tense in the first inning, but once the girls loosened up, we started attacking good pitches and taking extra bases when opportunities were there.
Game ball: Camille – for coming in and pitching very well, while also doing a great job staying disciplined at the plate and swinging at good pitches.

⸻

12U vs. Sunflowers

We played a very back-and-forth game that unfortunately didn’t go our way in the end. Kayleigh pitched well and was just missing the corners with a tight strike zone.
Game ball: Lily L – for her hustle and consistently backing up plays.

⸻

12U vs. Knockouts

We had to adjust to some slower pitching, but the second time through the lineup we did a much better job waiting on the ball and finding ways to get on base. Defensively, the girls played very well and even turned a triple play!
Game ball: Harper – for several hard-hit balls and aggressive baserunning.

⸻

12U vs. Hot Mess

Our bats were a little quiet this game, but Lily F and Ella did their jobs in the circle and gave the infield opportunities to make plays behind them. We were aggressively around the bases which helped us force somee runs to help us win.
Game ball: Charlotte S – for making some amazing stops at first base to get much-needed outs and for putting the ball in play well at the plate.

12U Cinco de Mayo Tournament Recap

The girls battled hard all weekend and showed a lot of growth. We saw some great hits, strong defensive plays, and also identified areas to keep improving. The team finished with an impressive 3rd place in the Silver Bracket—a great effort all around.

Game 1 vs. Circle T-Birds
Our Friday night opener was chilly with off-and-on rain, but the girls came ready to work. We had several solid base hits and stayed aggressive on the bases to secure the win. Ella started strong in the circle, with Hannah coming in for relief.
Game Ball: Madyson – Outstanding hustle in the outfield, including an awesome catch and quick transitions getting the ball in. She also showed great improvement being aggressive on the bases with her lead-offs.

Game 2 vs. Dirt Devils
This was our toughest pool play matchup, and we came up just short. We had some good hits but were a bit shaky defensively.
Game Ball: Charlotte K. – Great hustle in the field and a solid hit over second base.

Game 3 vs. Sunflowers
A back-and-forth battle that ended in a tough loss. The girls put together several hard hits, highlighted by Harper’s in-the-park home run!
Game Ball: Lily F. – Excellent all-around hustle, including aggressive sliding and effort on every play.

Game 4 vs. McPherson Lady Pups
The team came out on fire with strong hitting and solid defense. Hannah pitched a great game, with Lily F. providing relief. We earned a decisive win to move on in bracket play.
Game Ball: Hannah – Heads-up defense from the circle and great patience at the plate.

Game 5 vs. Lady Orioles
A tough loss to close out the tournament. We struggled to find gaps despite putting the ball in play, finishing in 3rd place.
Game Ball: Allahna – Consistent contact at the plate, great hustle and backing up in the field, and strong communication with teammates all game.

Game Ball Recognition
