University of North Texas Equestrian Team The UNT Equestrian Team is a student-lead intercollegiate team that competes for IHSA. For more information please reach out to (972) 214 6797!

The North Texas Equestrian Team and Club consists of UNT students, who travel to represent The University of North Texas in Intercollegiate Horse Shows. The Team competes in both Hunt Seat and Western Divisions. North Texas is in Zone 7, Region 2 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). We are proud to be recognized at UNT's 2017 Student Organization of the Year

Last weekend our president Abigail Sawyer took on the Texas Rose Horse Park Wagon Wheel Show with Twisted Oak Manor in Tyler, Tx! 💚 Sawyer and Roscoe had a successful weekend in the 2’ Hunters over fences bringing home 2nd, 3rd, & 4th place! 🏆 Congratulations Sawyer! ⭐️

🎓SENIOR SPOTLIGHT🎓

As we near the end of the 2026 semester, we’d like to highlight our graduating senior, Kalena Engeling.

Kalena has been on the western team for 3 years, moving from Beginner Walk/Trot to Rookie B Horsemanship!

Kalena will be attending Spring Commencement to receive a Bachelors of Science in Ecology for Environmental Science. She hopes to find a career job here in the DFW metroplex and potentially go to grad school later down the line.

We are so proud of our riders and their achievements both on and off the horse. Congratulations, Kalena, on all your achievements thus far and we wish you well in all your endeavors going forward! We’ll miss you here on the team. Don’t be a stranger!💚

As we near the end of the 2026 semester, we’d like to highlight our graduating senior, Abigail Williams.

Abigail has been on the English team for 3 years, ending in Limit over fences and on flat!

Abigail will be attending Spring Commencement to receive a Bachelors of Arts in English with a Concentration in Literature and a Certificate in Sustainability. She has been accepted into UNT’s Masters Program for Literature with Concentrations in Environment and Eco-Criticism.

We are so proud of our riders and their achievements both on and off the horse. Congratulations, Abigail, on all your achievements thus far and we wish you well in all your endeavors going forward! We’ll miss you here on the team. Don’t be a stranger!💚

As we near the end of the 2026 semester, we’d like to highlight our graduating senior, Carolynn Hoferitza.

Carolynn has been on the Western team for 4 years, moving from Beginner Walk/Trot to Level 1 Horsemanship!

Carrie will be attending Spring Commencement to receive a Bachelors of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Management. After graduation, she plans to move to Chicago with her partner and get married!

Madison is on both the English and Western team, ending in Rookie B Horsemanship in Western and Intermediate Over Fences and Flat for English!

Madison will be attending Spring Commencement to receive a Bachelors of Science in Economics. She hopes to go to grad school and potentially get into the agriculture industry after graduation.

After making it through round 1 of Rookie Semis, Kassi advanced to round 2 where she placed 8th out of a competitive group of riders!
