So you have a high performance car, let talk maintenance!
Was talking with a friend and was discussing things that keep these units performing and lasting. Here are some of the things i believe you should address.
1. Change oil often! With huge injectors this is a must! I try not to start unless I’m going to use the car or go somewhere. It seems idle time saturates the fuel.
2. Use quality fluids, especially if running E, get an oil that will hold up to it. Turbos, spend the extra money on a good trans fluid that will stand up to the heat. I choose LAT.
3. Change spark plugs (I’m guilty of not doing this one enough). Ever had a car break up running down the track, change the plugs and it mysteriously goes away? Scary at first, until you check the plugs and realized you should have changed them a while ago!
4. Constantly go every nut and bolt! HP and vibrations can loosen things up, and a pass is not the place to find this out.
5. Winterize your car! I drain the coiling system and circulate some antifreeze into it. I also drain the watertank and put RV antifreeze in it. Don’t want it to freeze and ruin a good intercooler! I also keep mine up on stands and in a heated garage to avoid these types of issues.
What are some of your alls suggestions and experiences?
