Good mooorning, fellow Delmarvians! It's gonna be a great day, and you know why? At the end of the day, you are in charge of YOU and YOUR DAY!
Every day of your life is a journey, and along that journey, there are different paths, different seasons, different people. Just like watching Ash and co. go through the many regions of the Pokemon world (yes, I'm a nerd, hush up), there are loads of adventures to be had, if we only take those steps.
Is every day going to be the best day ever? No. Is every gym session going to be record shattering? Absolutely not. Are there going to be caves of mental darkness to trek through? Yes. Are you going to ask yourself, "what is the point?" and try to escape back to something comfortable? Yep!
All of the things mentioned above are true. But know this: if you stay scared, if you let your mind take over your body completely, you will become immobile, mentally and physically so. There needs to be a balance of both mind and body, and know that each side needs the other to live fully.
I have been fighting myself for about a year now, and while I could give up, I know that is not the path I need to take. Yes, even trainers go through what you go through. We have more knowledge than the average gym goer, but that doesn't mean we aren't human beings, that we don't have our own personal struggles.
I know what it is like having an eating disorder. I know what it's like to have body dysmorphia. I also know how to fight back against those things. Sometimes they push back harder than I would like, but know that as long as you don't roll over and say, "ok, I'm done," you are still winning.
My routine is simply this:
1. Show Up
This is the most important thing. If you can get out of bed, that's the hardest part. If you can get in your car, you are almost there. If you show up to the gym (or whatever other place you get physical activity), that's the halfway point. The rest is easy: you are already here! You made it! Plug those headphones in and get moving!
2. Sweat
This will come naturally to some more than others, (especially if your hormones are wack like mine, where my ladies at?) and is your body's response to stress, but this stress in the gym is the good kind. It shows your body is working, and you are burning those calories, and let's be honest, caloric deficit is needed to lose weight if that is your goal, no matter how you slice it.
3. Swear
I am of the mind that swearing doesn't mean you lack intelligence, just that you have a sense of humor! Why else do people laugh when they hear a swear word? And let's be real: letting out a swear after a good set can be therapeutic, because you hate the discomfort, but know you are better for it! Another reason there is the saying, "hurts so good!"
I can help you restore confidence, show you are capable, and build your inner strength. Reach out for your complimentary session today!
