Camp Tybo Day Three:

Morey City (or simply Morey) is an isolated 19th-century silver mining ghost town located on the eastern slopes of the Hot Creek Range in northern Nye County, Nevada. Prospectors first located silver ore here in 1865. The camp was officially settled in 1869. By 1874, the community had a population of 95 residents.

The town featured two stores, a livery stable, a blacksmith shop, a boarding house, and a stamp mill. Morey maintained a functional post office for 33 years, running from 1872 to 1905.

The mines yielded roughly $475,000 worth of silver ore over their lifespan. Active mining ground down, leading to the town being completely abandoned by 1909. A massive avalanche in the 1950s destroyed the majority of the remaining historic buildings.

Pritchard’s Station is a remarkably well-preserved, 150-year-old historic ghost town and stagecoach stop located in a remote part of Nye County.

Built around 1874 by William T. Pritchard (famously nicknamed "Nick of the Woods"), the stone station served as a vital freight and passenger hub during Nevada's late-19th-century mining boom. Pritchard constructed a dedicated toll road connecting the booming mining towns of Tybo and Belmont north to Eureka.

The station acted as a major junction point where travelers could connect to stages headed toward Hamilton and Pioche. At the peak of Pritchard's massive freighting enterprise, his network utilized roughly 2,000 mules and 500 wagons to move goods across the Great Basin Desert. A "Prichard" post office was briefly applied for and established in 1874, though it was quickly rescinded. The site remained used in some capacity into the 1890s before being abandoned.
