We hit and pitched so well over the weekend, but our defense and mental lapses cost us a couple of games we should have won. This is part of their journey, and we 100% support our athletes on their journey of developing skill and softball IQ. 2-4 on the weekend could have easily been 4-2 and playing another game on Sunday.

OFFENSIVE LEADERS:

#12 Harper Wright: .579 BA, 11 hits (3 doubles and 2 triples), 12 runs scored and about 100 head first slides

#23 Amirrah Bolden: .444, 8 hits (1 double)

#00 Ashlynn Naegel: .438, 7 hits (1 double and 1 triple)

PITCHERS:

#00 Ashlynn Naegel, #7 Elle Gibson, and #88 Carolina Miller in 6 games only allowed a .275 BA, had 24 SOs, and only had 20 ER.

Next up: Practice this week and then off to Orrville, OH for the 5 Alarm Classic.

Our bats were on fire yesterday! We out hit every team we played, but went 1-2 on the day. Walks, passed balls, and errors caught up to us in our 2 losses. We look to stay hit at the plate while cleaning up the other areas today as we continue pool play against 2 great teams.

Sadly, #14 Aria Jewell broke her thumb sliding into 2nd after she was 2-2 and balling at SS. She came back to support her teammates the rest of the day, and can always give us a thumbs up!

We had a rough start to our weekend, but we improved each game throughout the tournament. We played 6 total games, went 1-5, and played 5 older teams - including 2 semifinalists and the eventual champions. The growth and development will pay dividends down the road. Next up - Lasers Summer Showcase next Friday - Sunday.

What a fun filled, wet weekend we just had. Seemed like it rained all day Saturday and most the day Sunday. We played up in the 12U A bracket as 1 out of 5 first year teams. We went 1-2 in pool play with a great comeback victory against a Finesse team that was very well coached. We lost on Sunday, but we feel we beat ourselves. We outhit the opposition 7-3, but made 4 errors and some baserunning mistakes that cost us the game. We fought to the very end and lost 6-5 to a very good Tennessee Mojo - Onan squad. Their girls and coaches were very fun to play against and they were all class acts. These are critical learning and development moments for every athlete. Each player and coach will learn from this experience in preparation for our next tournament.

OFFENSIVE LEADERS:

#88 Carolina Miller - .500
#00 Ashlynn Naegel - .429 with 1 triple
#13 Kaylee Hornung - .400

#7 Elle Gibson, #88 Carolina Miller, and #00 Ashlynn Naegel combined for 15 IP, 15 SOs, and only allowed a .288 average all weekend.

This Friday we head to Columbus for the 17th annual Jerry Myers Firefighter Memorial hosted by Moore Tournaments. We are playing in the 12U A bracket against some great teams and look forward to competing as hard as we can. Good luck to all the teams this weekend!

We are deeply saddened at the loss of our beloved Coach Summer earlier today. She battled breast cancer for the last 10 plus years, and fought to the end. Summer was a true warrior, who loved her family and softball deeply. She played travel ball in California, attended Evangel University, was inducted into their Hall of Fame, coached travel ball back home in California, started her own family, worked at a news station for nearly 18 years, and coached with us the last 2 years. In those two years, she demonstrated what perseverance, dedication, presence, leadership, and unconditional love really is to our young athletes and their families. She was at tournaments and practices while under treatment, calling pitches while incredibly nauseated, and present despite the amount of pain and discomfort she was experiencing. The whole time, Summer was upbeat, positive, and invested into the development of each girl she coached. She loved the game, but loved to coach more. We will miss her dearly, and ask everyone to keep her family in your thoughts. She is survived by her husband Mike and their 3 children.
