My grip has changed quite a bit since I first started training. Someone can show you the right strong hand and support hand grip placement…
Yet deeper understanding with correct grip, pressure and upper body structure to support it takes time, reps and a desire to be better. In the bottom picture many moons ago, I can see immediately several things that I could correct, that I correct on my students often.
I used to stretch far forward and jut my chin out a little and lock my elbows, none of this helped increase my grip pressure or strength when shooting. My support hand on the left side needs to be much higher in the frame with my strong hand thumb gently tented over the top.
I also find a slight bend and elevation of my left elbow aids in more inboard grip pressure on the upper part of the frame on the left side.
The two images show a major difference in experience and understanding of correct grip and ease of recoil management. The lower picture I struggled with recoil management and being able to shoot faster. The upper image, I can grip it and rip it and be accurate as f**k.
I have an aggressive fighting stance with my shoulders over my front knees, hips hinged back slightly, steady even pressure on my strong hand in my lower three fingers with relaxed thumb and trigger finger, my support hand is high in the frame and applying pressure like I’m crushing juice out of an orange, I am placing pressure between my palms with my elbows, bent and engaging my front shoulders, pecks, biceps, and lats. My lower forearms are also engaged with this pressure on the gun. And of course, my wrists are locked.
