It’s not the destination that’s important, but the journey to get there! It’s about WHO we become along the way, not where we end up ❌

In today’s society, it’s taught backwards. The status of an individual often trumps the character and to me, that’s totally wrong.

In this journey of life, we are called to evolve. Not falling to the ways of our youth but maturing to becoming better people.

When God is present in our lives, we understand that the surrender to our old self, is the start of us become new (Romans 12:2) 📖

At the hills, we shed our old self physically. We break the body down to eventually build ourselves back up. 💪

Lastly, In order to get to where we want to go, we first must become the person we want to be. ❤️💯

Coaches DONT want to see you go 1 on 1 in a tryout setting‼️

Are we impressed when someone can create a play for themselves? Sure. But for the most part, it’s not what moves the needle when it comes to making a team.

Professionals understand this the most. Just because they can get a bucket at any time, doesn’t mean they should! What professionals understand better than college/high school players is that’s not what wins games ❌

What wins games is you using your skill set to create advantages that get the whole defense moving, not just your man 💡🧠

If you can do that successfully, the consider yourself part of any team you’re trying to make. Ultimately, coaches love players that make the team better, not just themselves.

It’s important in year 1 of the Miami Pro League that we establish the type of basketball that we are going to play.

Selfless. Fast paced. Hard working.

If we can do all three successfully, we’ll put ourselves in a great position to win 🏀

Its no secret 🤫❌ When people ask how they can get better faster, especially at a young age, I tell them:

Do what we learn in class, over and over and over again. The power of repetition builds the capacity to do better work in the future. Yes there are certainly efficient ways to do things but at a young age, it’s more important to build the capacity to do more work than it is to do the “do the perfect work”!

Now as athletes age, of course it’s more important to do purposeful work to become more efficient with time and recovery but for someone who is just learning, practice and repetition is KEY!

So if you’re young and reading this, lock in & get to work 💪🏀

It’s still surreal. Six years of my life, dedicated to a place, a program and university.

18-11 record as a head coach, beating four ranked opponents, two Sun Conference championships as an assistant , three developmental championships, and two national tournament appearances. I wouldn’t trade those times for the world… and if I can do it all again, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Though FMU left a bitter taste in my mouth by terminating me, and not giving me an opportunity to have a conversation with my team before my departure, the lives and relationships I’ve built there have been life-changing. Starting as a volunteer assistant as a 25 year old kid, who knew God would have led me this far to have a chance to be the Head Coach. Impacting the lives of hundreds of students and winning along the way, has been amazing.

To the athletes that I’ve coached, thank you for trusting in me and what we had planned together. To the coaches over the years that I’ve gotten the privilege of standing next to, thank you for believing in the young kid with a ton of passion. And lastly to FMU, thank you for giving me an opportunity to do what I love. Though I wasn’t the person you ultimately wanted, I thank you for giving me a shot and allowing me to build life long relationships with my players and coaches. I pray for the success of your new administration and that you lead with love first.

To what’s next, only God knows. I trust that He will guide my steps and allow me to lead lives however HE feels best. To all my friends and family that have supported me through this time, I love you and thank always.

I’m so freaking ecstatic I can SCREAM! She is by far the hardest working person I’ve been around and to finally see this day through is nothing short of a blessing 🙏

God has favored you baby & I can’t wait to celebrate you until the day we leave this earth ❤️ I’m so lucky to be your husband 💍

As one of my OG’s says, slow is smooth & smooth is fast..

Often times we want to achieve goals when WE want but God has a way of showing us that things happen on HIS time.

That doesn’t mean we stop striving for more. The way I see it, he’s preparing us for something we may not see yet. As I continue to reach for the stars, I’m reminded that it only takes the faith of a mustard seed to accomplish great things.

Jesus says in Matthew 17:20 “If you have the faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” ❤️🙏

I can’t begin to explain how blessed 2024 has been to me and my family.. 🙏 Through the trials, failures, successes, and everything in between, I couldn’t have asked for more.
