🌪Meet our 8U Head Coach: Nate Kelling🌪
⚾️ What is your baseball experience?
I’m from a Baseball/Softball family. My whole life has been focused on sports, specifically baseball. I played all the way up through some College. All conference / All State / numerous awards and recognitions for performance.
⚾️ What do you hope players learn beyond baseball? That’s a great question. There is so much for them to learn about life, lessons, successes and failures. You have to start stacking the little things up in order to achieve a goal. Hard work, discipline and focus will pay off. Being accountable, not only to yourself but to your teammates, your family members, and friends. Baseball is a team sport where individuals have to do their jobs to achieve a win. I tell our kids “do your job and a little more” to close the gaps and we’ll win. Failure isn’t the end, it just shows you what needs improvement.
⚾️ Favorite baseball memory?
There are so many but I have two I’ll share; being the winning pitcher in two games to allow our team to go the State for the third year in a row. The last out of the second game was made at home plate after a perfect outfield relay was completed! Our catcher was drilled but held onto the ball. There are newspaper article pictures with it. It seemed like the entire conference was in attendance.
⚾️ Favorite MLB Team?
The 1990s Atlanta Braves. No question.
⚾️ Favorite Post-Game Snack?
Nachos, but my son calls them Machos because of all the food I have to put on them. It’s a meal!
⚾️ Favorite Drill or Practice Activity?
Infield drills followed by pitching.
⚾️ Favorite Baseball Movie? Money Ball
⚾️ What is one goal you have for your team this season? To enhance their individual skill sets to make the team better.
⚾️ Walk-Up Song?
All American Nightmare by Hinder or I Like it Heavy by Halestorm.
🌪🌪 Thank you for all the work you put into the 8U team, Coach Nate! 🌪🌪
