Congratulations to Maximus Purdy on his 4th place finish in the 92kg bracket (203 lbs.) of USA Wrestling U17 World Team Trial tournament.

During last night's City Council meeting, two Assumption High School student athletes were recognized for their achievements in wrestling.

Maximus Purdy won the 2026 Class 2A 190 lb. State Wrestling Champion. Purdy also achieved national recognition in 2025 as the USA Wrestling Folkstyle National 16 and under 175 lb. Champion and the USA Wrestling Brian Keck Memorial Preseason Nationals 9th - 10th grade 190 lb. Champion.

Greta Brus won the 2026 Class 1A 155 lb. State Wrestling Champion. Brus also achieved national recognition in 2025 as the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Nationals 145 lb. 4th place finisher, the USA Wrestling High School Showcase 140 lb. 3rd place finisher, and the USA Wrestling Marine Corps National 145 lb. 3rd place finisher.

Shout-out to Valentina West (Assumption Lady Knights) for winning the 2026 Iowa Girls AAU State Championship at HS 122 lbs! Valentina placed 3rd the past 2 seasons at the Iowa Girls HS State Wrestling Tournament at 110 and 120 lbs! Just a sophomore!
