Yesterday, my twin brother and I were out grinding in the heat, pushing two of our ABS players through a relentless outdoor training session. Right in the middle of the workout, a kind woman walked over out of nowhere and handed us some Gatorades.
I want to take a moment to express some genuine, heartfelt appreciation for her. We didn’t catch your name, but that simple, selfless gesture meant the world to us and our athletes.
That right there is exactly what community is all about. At Alabama Basketball Society, we spend a lot of time preaching the importance of showing up for one another, putting in the hard work, and building each other up. Seeing that exact same support echoed back to us by our own neighbors is something truly special. You didn’t have to stop what you were doing, but you did, and you perfectly embodied the village it takes to uplift the next generation.
So, to the lady with the Gatorades, whoever you are, and wherever you are, thank you!! You fueled our workout, but more importantly, you fueled our faith in this community.🙏🏾
This is more than a game, it’s a society.
